One thing in life that is constant are transitions, young to old, student to graduate, single to married, daughter to mother, and most times they happen so fast, I wasn't a fan of anything that happened without me planning it. My obsession with order was excessive, my anxiety got higher as he held my hand walking me through the house, my face was still covered.
I could smell fresh incense and with it the obvious sound of people still making noise in the house, I heard Zainab coming towards me as she spoke with someone else obviously she was working with before our arrival. "Sannun ku da zuwa" I heard her say "we are almost done, we'll be out of your hair in a few minutes, the rest can be done tomorrow.""Thank you Zainab" Abdulmaleek replied her. She held my hands "can I take her off your hair for a moment please" I heard someone come in his voice could not be misplaced "Assalamualaikum" he said, it was definitely Abdulzahir, I felt Zainab's hand stiffen.
"Wa'alaikumussalam" Abdulmaleek replied, Zainab held my hand leading me to what I assume would be the bedroom, she didn't respond to Abdulzahir. All this was too awkward, it felt all too familiar, Abdulzahir was Zainab's mistake but the poor guy now limps on one leg and has this huge scar by the side of his face, souvenir from his accident, an accident everyone knew was not particularly an 'accident' it was too obvious Teemah tried to kill or hurt him really bad because he did almost die, only God knows her intentions but she messed him up really bad, I don't blame her, he was a sick bastard.
I mean lets not forget he did also almost kill her, not that anyone is putting him on trial for that because Teemah never spoke up, instead she did what she did. Abdulzahir and his problems are the least of my worries right now though. Zainab locked the door, I took the alkyabba off my head immediately.
"I hear congratulations are in order Mrs Bashir, you're officially married to a big house now" she said smiling, If I didn't know better I would say that she was actually more excited about me and Abdulmaleek than me and Ajeay. Ajeay I am dying to find out what happened with him "did you find out anything about Ajeay?"
Her smile faded away "I heard he was arrested at the wedding, apparently he was involved in some kind of company embezzlement or something"
"Lahaula wa la kuwata illabillah" I heard myself say as I tried to find a place where I can sit down and the closest to me was the bed. What did Abdulmaleek do, what I have done. When he said he would handle it honestly I didn't think he would do something this wrong. What have I married?!
"Thank God you didn't marry him Tee imagine the embarrassment, a thief"
But I don't think he was, he was framed, this game was not meant for the fickle in the first place nor was it meant for the weak, Ajeay was certainly not as good a chess player as the chess players otherwise he would have known he didn't stand a chance against Abdulmaleek.Who are these chess players and why hasn't anybody been able to play their game, well except Teemah of course she made quite the move with Abdulzahir but nobody has heard from her in a while, now I am married to one of them.
"I need to leave Tee, I don't want that bastard to think he can talk to me" and by bastard she meant her ex husband."Who'll take you home?"
"We came with su Umar ai, your house is ready, the rest can be done with time and I am sure Abdulmaleek wants me and everyone else out of this place so he can finally be with his wife""You really think I would let him touch me?"
The thought alone disgust me, mostly because I kept feeling like I harbored no feelings for him anymore.
"And why not? He is your husband after all" the expression on her face was playful. "Look Tee you both have been through hell and back why not now just try to be happy""Zee it's not that easy, like you said we've been through a lot"
"Well I dont think your groom would want to wait, I mean it's obvious he wants you, you should have seen his face when I took you from him" she chuckled "Abdulmaleek loves you Tee, not many people are as lucky as you"
