Today is the day! The day Noah and I have been waiting for!

It's currently five seventeen in the morning. I woke up really early because I wanted to extra early at assembly today.

I just texted Noah. He's usually awake by now. I needed to know how he was feeling.

Noah!!! Are you awake?! God, I'm so excited ehn. I really hope we get our positions.🙏

Noah🤠💕:
I'm up oo. I'm really excited too. If I win this, it might really impress Sarah? What do you think?

me:
Mtchew, you're very stupid oo. Buttt, very right. I think she knows you're giving her goo-goo eyes lmao. Ouuu, what if she likes you too?! 😱

Noah🤠💕:
Mumu, that's why I told you to help me out na.😭 Anyways, I'm really excited for this!

My classmates and I were all in the classroom waiting on the bell to be rung. I had gone to the restroom more than twice to adjust myself-asin my uniform, I had to look good, yunno?

Wait! What if I don't get called? What if I'm not picked, oh no!!!

Here comes the prickling anxiety...

"Okay Dara, breathe." I inhaled and exhaled slowly.

After a few minutes of anxiously waiting, the bell rang and my classmates and I dashed out of the class all the way to the assembly ground. We formed our lines and waited for assembly to start.

During praise and worship, I heard my name from the crowd. It was Kamal's.
"Good luck!" he whispered audibly with a wink following suit. Isn't he so cute?!

"Thank you," I said grinning from ear to ear. I felt so special, ugh!

After the normal order of events, it was time for THE announcement! The Principal and the Vice Principal stepped onto the podium. They called on the former prefects to join them which meant Ogeh was going up there.

By the way we haven't spoken in four days. She did like my recent post on Instagram but didn't comment on it like she usually does.

So it began. The Principal started from the post of Head Boy. From the corner of my eye, I could see Noah's head facing down. He was eagerly hoping to hear his name and it HAPPENED!

"Noah Oguigo; head boy."

My heart was so happy. I knew this was what he wanted and I was so happy for him. I screamed and clapped along with the rest of the students.

As he went up to the podium, I noticed Ogeh had a tight-lipped smile on her face and wasn't clapping as much as the rest of us.

Noah had his badge pinned on to his blazer by the former Head Boy and was given a handshake by the principal while the vice principal took pictures.

The role call continued as we received Head Girl, Library Prefect and the Sports Prefect.

Finally, it was time to announce the Social Prefect. I was so nervous because a huge part of me felt I wouldn't get it.
