On Monday morning, all the prefects gathered in my class to discuss the preparations for our End Of The Session school party.

We negotiated on the amount students and prefects were to pay and after settling on a reasonable amount, we proceeded to make a list of things needed at the party.

Hadessah, the Food and Sanitation prefect made a list of all the food items and drinks we would buy and need. Noah and Ikenna, who was the Labor Prefect, made a list of songs which were going to be played at the party. Others discussed the decorations which were to be used and gift items shared.

I and Yvonne, the Head girl made a list of order of events and games. Everything was sorted out accordingly and we met with the Principal to discuss our plans.

After taking a look at everything, he agreed for the party to take place and reminded us to inform students on the assembly the next morning so they'll start paying for the party.

He also suggested that a teacher would accompany us with the use of the school bus to the mall to get the necessary items we needed once all the money was compiled.

We were a week and two days away from our school's Valedictory Service. All students were done with exams and were now prepping for their presentation at the service.

Others just came to school to play and chat with friends. After the students pay their money by Friday, we would be going to the mall to shop for everything we would need.

We returned back to our individual classes after our meeting with the Principal. Noah and I's class teacher, Mrs.Oloidi, informed us on how happy she was with our results. She commended us on our excellence in the exams and thanked us for making her year as a teacher.

If all Nigerian teachers could be like her though, what a wonderful world it'll be.

After playing a few card games, gisting with friends and probably taking a nap, school was finally over.

The twelfth graders didn't come to school that much after they completed their external examinations. Ogeh though, didn't want to stay at home so she came to school with us this morning along with a few classmates of hers.

"Hey. Are you ready to go?" I asked her once we entered her class.

She nods and grabs her backpack. "Yeah. But would you guys stay with me till my mom comes back?," she asks stepping in front of Noah and I.

"Why? Is someone afraid to be left alone?"Noah teases and I nudge him at his side.

"Yeah, actually," Ogeh states. "Now would you two stay with me or not?"

"What time would Aunty Nkem be back?" I ask.

"By four, latest."

"Okay then, let's go."

She smiles at me and Noah whines. I shoot him a glare and he huffs, "Fine. I'll go."

I smile at him and Ogeh takes her hands in ours as we begin walking out of school.

When we reach Ogeh's house, there's no light so she decides to put on the generator. "Noah, can you follow me outside please?"

"Ahn ahn, Aunty what happen? Are you scared to go outside again?" Noah whines.

"Stop asking questions and just go with her!" I yell.

Noah stomps his feet on the floor like a toddler but obliges. The generator comes on and light fills up the darkness of the house. Noah and Ogeh walk back into the living room.

Noah removes his blazer, shoes and socks as he sprawls himself over one of the couches. I turn on the TV and tune into channel 325. I look over to Ogeh who's seated beside me, "Aren't you going to change your clothes?"

She looks down at her clothes and takes in her appearance, "Oh yeah. Can you follow me?"

I smile,"Sure." We get up, leaving Noah who has already fallen asleep on the couch in the living room and head upstairs to Ogeh's room.

Ogeh enters her closet to pick out her clothes while I sit at the front of her bed. She picks up a pair of red shorts and a white tee.

She places them besides on me on the bed and begins removing her school uniform.

As she takes off her blazer, I notice an unhealed cut around her wrist area. Then I notice another one on her other hand.

When did she get hurt?

I'm about to ask her until she removes her t-shirt and my eyes grow wide in horror.

"Jesus Christ! Ogeh what happened to you?" I scream as I take in the sight of multiple cuts and markings all over her body.

Ogeh looks at her body upon realizing what I said and quickly throws on her white tee.

"It's n-nothing. Don't worry." She stammers.

"What the hell do you mean nothing? There are marks on you? Who did that to you?" I yell, tears already falling from my eyes at the graphic markings.

Ogeh looks at me and shakes her head, avoiding my question. I get up and stand in front of her, cupping her face in my hands, "Who did it?" I ask again, my voice low.

She inhales a deep breath and says with no emotion attached, "Me. I did it to myself."
