After detention, Sweet Pea and Sophia made their way to the Putnam's house.
"Hi, mum, dad. I'm home. Sweet Pea's staying for dinner but then we're heading to the speakeasy for a while." Sophia said as she walked inside.
"That's fine." William said. "Sweet Pea, come sit down."
Sweet Pea sat on the sofa, and William went to hand him a beer.
"No thanks, I'm driving." Sweet Pea declined.
"It's Friday night. I'll pay for your cab if I have to." William said.
Sweet Pea took the drink from him, both of them clinking bottles.
"Well, while you two... bond, or whatever, I'm gonna get ready." Sophia said, going upstairs.
"Get ready for what?" William asked.
"She has a trial shift at the speakeasy." Sweet Pea told him.
"That's good." Trisha said. "Hi, Sweet Pea."
"Hi, Trisha." Sweet Pea smiled as she leaned over to ruffle his hair.
"I've made a lasagne. Is that okay for you?" She asked.
"Of course." Sweet Pea said. "Thanks, Trish."
Sophia changed into a black dress, her hair pulled up into a high ponytail with parts down at the front and sides. She put on some nude stockings and some black heels. She topped up her eyeliner and highlighter, and threw a lipstick in her pocket. As she walked downstairs, she heard a conversation.
Patricia pinched Sweet Pea's cheek. "I'm so happy Sophia has you."
"I'm very lucky to have her." He replied.
Sophia smiled, walking behind him. "And I'm very lucky to have you." She kissed his cheek.
"You look smart, Soph. So why are you doing a trial at the speakeasy?" William asked.
"V's one bartender down tomorrow night. Even though I said I have some experience, she asked me to do a trial." Sophia shrugged.
"It'll give you something to do rather than party." Trish said. "Will you come help me dish up dinner?"
"Sure, mama." Sophia bent over the sofa to place a kiss on Sweet Pea's lips before following her into the kitchen. They began dishing out the dinner.
"Sophia, I just want to check that if you and Sweet Pea are... doing anything, that you're being safe. You are, aren't you?" Trisha asked.
"Yes, mum, of course. We always use a condom, and don't forget I have the implant." Sophia said.
"I just wanted to check." Trisha said. "Everyone, dinner!" She called.
Sweet Pea and William came into the kitchen, followed by Tom from upstairs.
"Are you coming to the speakeasy?" Sweet Pea asked.
Tom nodded. "Yeah. I'm going."
"Of course, he's going. Josie sings there." Sophia smirked.
After dinner, they decided to take a walk to Pop's. On the way there, Archie drove past and honked.
"Want a ride?" He asked.
They agreed, Sophia jumping in the front with Tom and Sweet Pea in the back. Sophia reapplied her lipstick as they drove.
"We're just gonna pick V up." Archie said, pulling up to the Pembrooke.
Sophia jumped into the back between the boys, and Veronica got in next to Archie.
"Hi, everyone." Veronica said. "Soph, you definitely look the part."
"I do try." Sophia smiled.
They parked outside Pop's, all going down to the speakeasy. Josie, Kevin and Moose were already there, along with Reggie and Chuck who were working. Cheryl and Toni soon joined them all too.
"Alright, Sophia. Let's see what you can do." Reggie stepped to the side and let her at the bar.
She made some of the drinks that were on the menu, everyone trying them and saying that they were great.
"Can I show you a drink?" Sophia asked.
"Go ahead," said Chuck.
"Wait! If it's a new one, we want to try." Fangs said, sitting at the bar with Betty and Jughead.
Sophia got to work, mixing together. This one was an alcoholic cocktail, as alcohol had become a staple in the speakeasy for their group of friends and whoever Veronica deemed appropriate. She poured it into a glass, garnishing with an umbrella and popping in two little straws. She passed it over to Veronica first.
"Oh my God." Veronica said.
Everyone else tried it, having similar reactions.
"What is that?" Josie asked.
"Yeah, it's delicious." Said Cheryl.
"And dangerous. You can't even taste the alcohol." Betty said.
"We used to call it the grenade." Sophia said with a wink.
"Well, it's great." Fangs said. "I'll buy one."
"And me," said Jughead.
"Me too." Sweet Pea said.
Sophia smiled at her friends support, making three more. Chuck showed her how the till worked.
"How much do you want to charge for these?" He asked Veronica.
"Same as usual." Veronica said. Sophia took the money from the boys. "Soph, put it up on the specials board."
"Really?" Sophia asked.
"Really." Veronica nodded. "I have a feeling it's gonna be a best seller."
Other customers began to arrive so everyone went to sit down and hang out. Sophia's hour long trial that started at 7pm ended up lasting until 1am when, as it was Friday, the speakeasy closed.
"We'll clean up. Go home, Soph." Chuck said.
"I can help." Sophia said.
"You were meant to finish your trial shift hours ago and you've worked til now." Reggie said.
"Go," said Chuck. "Sweet Pea is upstairs waiting for you and a cab's been ordered."
"You sure?" Sophia asked. The boys nodded.
"Just go Sophia. We'll see you tomorrow." Reggie said.
"Thanks. Goodnight." She kissed both of their cheeks. She went upstairs finding Sweet Pea sat at the counter of Pop's.
"You ready to go?" He asked.
"Oh, yeah," she said.
The cab pulled up outside so they got in, going back to her house. Sophia handed the driver the cash, getting out and opening the front door. She and Sweet Pea walked inside, going up to her bedroom and locking the door. They both undressed for bed.
"You look tired, baby." Sweet Pea noted, leaving a kiss on her shoulder.
"I forgot how much hard work it is working behind a bar." Sophia replied, her eyes closing as he massaged her shoulders. "Will you cuddle me to sleep?"
"Do you even have to ask?" Sweet Pea smiled as they got into bed.
