The thought kept on replaying over and over again in my head. What if I'm right. What if he likes me?

I shook my head to get rid of the thought. Nothing in this world could make him like you. I mean look at you. You're nothing compared to his choice of females. Chris takes you as a friend or maybe he's just nice to you because you two are related by marital vows.

Damn!

How can I even think of something as this? He's been nice to me and all I think about is this?! This isn't fair at all. But why am I this affected? Why am I even asking myself these stupid questions?

Landing on the question, I immediately push my body up with my hands as I let my legs hit the floor. The headache came back again in full hit.

I have to go to hospital this early so I can get my card summit. Now I need Chris close to me as before. His proximity made the headache disappear. Or seemed that way.

Having taken my bath, I sat on the dresser to moisturize my skin. The perfumed scent from the lotion did nothing to lessen the intensity of the headache. I had to keep my head straight the whole time because if I bent, my eyes would feel like it's about to get pulled out.

Finally getting dressed up, I sat on the bed, picking my phone to call my mother. It rang for a couple of times before she picked.

"Hello, mum" I called once she picked.

"Eddy, how are you sweetie?" Her voice sounded so excited. Wonder what she's so ecstatic about.

"Good morning mum, what is making you so excited?" I tried a smile which sort of worked.

"It's been a while since I heard from you, how are you doing?" A while? It's only been five days.

I huffed tiredly, "Is anything wrong? You don't sound alright" She asked, her ecstatic state replaced with concern.

"That's why I called" I said in a breathy tone. "I wanted to ask if you're on duty?" She would help me get checked in quickly. I don't want to spend hours there.

"Unfortunately not.. I'm on afternoon shift" She said, making me shut my eyes in disappointment. "Are you sick?" Her motherly aura already picturing in my mind.

"I haven't been feeling well lately." My eyes scrolled up the wall but staring into space as my mind was engaged in a conversation with mum.

"When did it start?" She asked like it's gonna help.

"Yesterday, in the morning and continued later in the evening." I replied, now playing with the hem of my dress.

"Hmm.. Did you ever throw up?" I furrowed my eyebrows in quick understanding.

"Mum look, it's not what you're thinking... I'm just sick that's all" I immediately said back to her.

"I'm not saying but there is a possibility... You are married remember?" I shudder at her words. She's right, I'm married and anything of this sort can happen if I'm not careful enough.

"I know mum but I'm telling you I'm not what you're thinking." If only you knew we are living houses apart.

"Whatever you say" But I know she doesn't believe me. Now I'm feeling bad for having to ruin her expectation. Mums. "Just let me know when you're back from the hospital" I couldn't tell if she was smiling or not.
