Lily's POV:
"PETER!! YOU PROMISED!!" I wail, as he ducks out of the cave. I pull against the ropes trying to break free.
"Lily, you need to stop. You're hurting yourself." I snap my head towards Tinkerbell, and glare.
"Let me go!!" I yell at her, but she's already shaking her head.
"I'm sorry. I can't do that. What's the last thing you remember??" She states, and I stop fighting against the ropes in confusion.
"What do you mean?? I fell asleep while Peter was showing me Neverland, and I woke up here tied down! What is going on!?!" I yell at her in frustration, but she just shakes her head.
"I can't tell you, Peter told me not to." Tink says, and I scream at her; thrashing against the restraints.
I watch as Tinkerbell slowly rises to her feet. "I'm going to go get us some food. I'll be back." I scream after her, as she ducks out the cave entrance.
I look around for something to cut me loose, but there's nothing within reach. I slowly slump against the bed, and stare at the roof of the cave.
Damn you, Peter Pan. Damn you! I think to myself as I stare up at the ceiling. You promised me! Tears start rolling down my cheeks again, as I slowly drift into a deep sleep.
Tinkerbell's POV:
I approach Pan's Thinking Tree, and see Pan perched on a branch.
"Pan. I need to talk to you." I say, but he's so deep in thought that he doesn't hear me.
"PETER PAN, GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE!!" I yell at him, and he snaps to attention and glares down at me.
Jumping down from above, he says, "You know better than to use my full name! Now why are you here!?! You're supposed to be with Lily!"
"I'm getting food, but I really just needed to get out of there. She wouldn't stop screaming. She was giving me a headache!" He frowns at that.
"Well, you need to figure something out to keep her quiet. We can't have somebody finding her. She's putting herself and everybody else in danger, until we find out more about her." He says, and I give a frustrated sigh.
"Fine. Just know that whatever I do is on you. You told me to figure it out, so I will." I walk away and go hunting for some food.
Arriving back to my home, I take note of Lily sleeping, and give a sigh of relief. I take a seat against the cave wall, and nibble on an apple as I watch her sleep.
Finally, peace and quiet. I think.
I finish my apple, and lean my head back and relax. Allowing my eyes to close, I let sleep take over.
Lily's POV:
****
I'm swimming through the water, but something feels different. I'm not struggling to breathe. I feel like I'm gliding through the water. I'm moving fast.Pain.
'AHHHH!!! It hurts!' I scream. 'Make it stop!!!'
My teeth and throat hurt. What's happening!?! I scream again, looking back as I lose feelings in my legs. Somebody is shaking me, and I wake with a scream.
****"AHHH!! WHAT'S HAPPENING!?! MAKE IT STOP!!" I scream as my body convulses.
"Lily! I don't know what's happening! What's wrong!?!" Tinkerbell says while trying to hold me still.
"Everything hurts!" I snap as my teeth turn razor sharp. "What's happening!?! I don't understand!"
"I don't know, but I have to keep you here. I have to restrain you more, so I can go get Pan." She grabs more rope and adds it to my wrists and ankles. "I'll be back. I'll hurry, I promise!"
I watch her run out, as another wave of pain runs through me and I scream.
Tinkerbell's POV:
Running through the forest, I'm ducking under low-hanging branches and vines, jumping over tree roots, rocks and creeks.
"Pan! PAN!!" I scream out, knowing that no matter where he is, he'll sense that something is wrong. He'll find me before I find him.
I look up as he appears from nowhere.
"Tink?? What's wrong!?!" He demands.
"Something's wrong with Lily. We have to hurry, there's not much keeping her tied down. She's really fighting, and she doesn't know why!!" His face completely drains of color as we take off, back towards Lily.
Approaching the cave, we hear Lily release a scream. Running inside, we see Lily ripping a hand free from the ropes.
"Lily, stop!" Pan shouts as she starts tugging at her other hand. She shouts, "WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME, PETER!?! EVERYTHING HURTS!!"
We grab her and try to hold her down, but she tries to bite us, and we jump back.
"Pan, what's happening to her?? I did just what you said. I kept her here, and away from the water. So, what's going on!?!"
Pan's POV:
"Pan, what's happening to her?? I did just what you said. I kept her here, and away from the water. So, what's going on!?!" Tink says as we once again grab Lily, trying to avoid being bitten.
She went into the water, and turned into a mermaid. I forcefully pulled her out, and she changed back! Mermaids can't live out of the water. My eyes widen in realization as what's happening hits me full force.
"Tink, that's it! She's dying! This is her body's way of telling her to go back in the water or she'll die! We have to put her back!" Shock washes over Tinkerbell's face as it hits her as well.
"The water outside is ocean water, and there are no tunnels or caves big enough for her to go back to the ocean. We can put her there, for now." She says and we untie Lily, quickly grabbing her before she gets away.
She screams as her skin starts drying out. Patches begin appearing across her body.
I swiftly pick her up in my arms, just as she starts slumping to the ground.
"We have to hurry!" We run out of the cave and I run into the water, quickly releasing her. I back up as soon as she starts screaming.
"Pan, what's happening to her!?!" Tink screams at me.
"She's changing back, and I have no idea on where to go from here." I respond quietly.
Her entire body starts steaming as she goes under. I leave the water and float a few feet above, watching her as she transformed back. I watch as her eyes close, and she starts floating towards the bottom.
Getting ready to dive in, her eyes fly open as she stares up at me through the water.
I have no idea what she's going to do next; as we carefully watch each other.
