Walking through the forest, carrying Lily in my arms isn't easy. However, even though I could fly us anywhere I want, I need the walk. I need to clear my head, because I have no idea what to do now.
I can't take her back to camp, because Felix is right. She's officially a danger to everyone. I can't just put her back in the ocean, not before figuring out how she ended up on land in the first place.
I'm so absorbed in my thoughts, I almost don't notice that we are being followed. I hear the slight rustling of leaves above us to my left. I keep walking, slowing down just a bit, as if nothing is out of the ordinary.
I slowly come to a stop near a wide oak tree and gently lay Lily down against it. I raise my eyes up, and see a figure jump over to another branch. I stand up, and start walking away, until I'm out of sight. I make a knife materialize in my hand; as I watch a blonde haired girl jump down from the tree next to Lily.
She looks around before crouching down next to Lily. She studies her carefully.
Quickly and quietly, I sneak up behind her and hold my knife to her throat.
She gasps, but doesn't move an inch.
Pulling her up and away from Lily; with my knife still at her throat I say, "What are you doing here Tinkerbell?? Don't you know, you're not supposed to stalk people!?!"
"I wasn't stalking you! I was wondering who the girl was. And why you seem to care so much. But, I guess I see why. She's a real sleeping beauty." She struggles to say, trying not to move against the blade. "I heard the Lost Boys out looking for some girl. So, obviously I had to see what the fuss was about. Now I have. So, if you just let me go, I'll be on my way."
"Yeah. You wish it was that easy, Tink. But, now maybe you can help me." I slowly pull the knife away, and put it back in it's sheath.
"Well, considering you didn't kill me, I guess I owe you. However, I don't have any magic. So, what could I possibly do for you??" She says.
"I need a place for Lily to stay. I can no longer bring her back to camp. She's a danger to the Lost Boys, and to herself. I will explain more if you say you'll do it." I watch her carefully ponder the idea of bringing a dangerous mystery girl back to her home.
She slowly nods, and says, "Fine. I live this way." She takes the lead, after I pick Lily back up.
She leads us north west through some bushes, over a stream, past some Dreamshade plants, and through some vines into a clearing.
Looking around I take in the beautiful area. A waterfall pouring into a pond as clear as glass. Trees on either side of us. Tink leads me behind the waterfall into a cave, where she has a few items such as: some clothes, some food, a few weapons, and a bed.
She allows me to lay Lily on her bed, before we sit down to talk.
"So, I found her lost on the beach yesterday. Only thing she could remember was her name. It's Lily, by the way. Took her back to camp for some food, and then I showed her the island. She fell asleep so I took her back and put her in a tent. This morning she was gone. I found her being enchanted by a mermaid, who dragged her out to sea. Here's the dangerous part. It turns out she's a mermaid with no memory of getting here or of being one. She was fighting Felix and I, trying to go back to the water. She nearly bit my hand off. However, I can't just let her go back. I have to find out how she ended up here first. She may hate me for it, but it's for the best." I explain, and as I watch for Tink's reaction, I hear Lily begin shifting on the bed.
Looking over, I see her grabbing her arms and neck, but not waking up.
"Well, that's a lot to process. So, what?? You just want me to keep her here?? What if she turns back into fish girl?? Those things are bloodthirsty creatures. I suppose I could tie her down, but that won't help for very long." She finally answers as we both watch Lily squirm.
Nodding I reply, "Yes, I know. But, as long as she is a danger to herself, she has to stay here. She has to stay away from the water. Am I clear??" Looking at Tinkerbell, she gives me a salute.
"But, what do I do when she asks me what's going on??" Tink asks.
"Tell her I said you can't tell her." I respond as I make some ropes appear, and tie Lily to the bed by her wrists and ankles.
Suddenly she wakes with a jolt, and tries to jump up, but is held in place by the ropes.
She looks at me with fear in her eyes. "Peter?? What's going on!?! Why am I tied down?? Where am I??" She struggles against the ropes to no avail.
"I'm sorry, Lily, but I have no choice. This is for our safety, as well as yours. This is Tinkerbell. She's going to watch over you for a little while. I promise you'll be okay." I frown when tears start flowing from her eyes.
I quickly look away, and back at Tink. "Thank you Tinkerbell. Good luck!" With that said I duck out of the cave, but not before hearing Lily wail, "PETER! YOU PROMISED!!"
