Sitting in the dark living room she sighed heavily when her phone lit up. It was her best friend checking on her for the hundredth time that day. "I'm fine Hap." she said as she got up from her seat on the couch and heading into the kitchen to get herself another beer.
"You don't sound fine. Try again." he said. He knew her well enough to know that she was bullshitting him. She could never pull one on him.
She sighed heavily and sat at the table. "What you want me to say? My boyfriend just broke up with me because he found out about the club. Story of my damn life. I can't choose someone over my family, Hap."
"Then don't. You deserve someone who accepts you. All of you, your family included." he said. "I gotta go, I'll see you later. We just stopped for fuel and a piss."
She rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Yea OK. You have a key, so just let yourself in."
"Roger that, got a surprise for ya, so lay off the beer." he said as he hung up.
She rolled her eyes as she put her phone back down onto the table and finished the rest of the beer. She went to the cabinet and pulled out a bottle of Patron. "Didn't say anything about tequila." she mumbled to herself. She made her way back into the living room and pressed play on her movie.
A couple hours later, Happy rolled up to the dark house and saw the flickering of the TV in the living room. He sighed heavily and nodded to his friend. He already knew what he was going to walk into. He had known her long enough to know the ritual she had to deal with a break up. Sit in the dark, watch Pretty Woman on repeat and drink till she passed out. He used his key and the two Sons walked into the dark room. Sitting in the living room was a very drunk Cassy.
"Hey," she said around a hiccup and tried to stand up to greet him, bottle of tequila in her hand.
"Thought I told you to lay off." He said as he grabbed the bottle from her.
She chuckled and went to take the bottle back. "You said to lay off of the beer... This is tequila." she said as she tried to grab the bottle again after Happy held it from her.
Happy shook his head and smirked. "You want your surprise or not?" he asked. Her eyes lit up and nodded. "Well then you need to lay off."
She pouted but agreed. Happy signaled his friend to come closer. She squealed with excitement as she saw the man standing in her living room. "Kozy!" she yelled as she jumped at him.
He caught her with ease and held her close. "Hey, angel face." He walked her back over to the couch and sat next to her, while Happy went to the kitchen to grab a beer for them, and water for Cassy. When he got back the tears had started to fall and Kozik looked like he was a deer caught in the headlights.
Happy placed the drinks on the table and knelt in front of her, "Cassy, breathe for me." he said as he made her look at him. She caught his gaze and did as she was told. "You're gonna be OK." he said as he ran a hand over her hair.
"Why does this always happen?" she asked. "Why am I never good enough?"
He ran a hand over his head and sighed. "Cassy, there is nothing wrong with you." he began. "He couldn't deal with the club. Which is better to know now, than later."
She nodded and felt the tears running down her face. She bit her lip and stood from her seat. She kissed Kozik's cheek and then Happy's. "I'm going to bed". She said as she headed to her room.
Happy flopped onto the couch and grabbed his beer. Kozik's eyes followed her until she was down the hall. "The fuck was that?" he said. "I've never seen her this tore up about a guy."
