Part 33 - Kill Sadness With Science

-Grayson's POV-

I sat next to Elliana next to Ethan's hospital bed with her hand in mine. We had to bring him in because he just wouldn't wake up. No matter what we tried. We poured water on him, tried shaking him, hell, we even clanked pans next to his ear. Nothing worked, and still to this point, nothing had.

The nurses and doctors came in one after one, it was an endless chain of questions and medical talk that I didn't understand. They kept injecting his IV with things that were supposed to wake him up, but none of them were successful.

-Two Hours Later-

Ethan still hadn't woken up. The doctors had already pumped him up with so many drugs, I was starting to wonder if they were just making it worse.

The pills he had taken were a mix between benzodiazepines and opiates, both of which can put you into a coma. I wasn't sure if Ethan took these on purpose, as he knew what they would do, or he just grabbed a random bottle. But then again, why the fuck would he have these pills in the first place?

-Hour Five-

Elliana had fallen asleep on my lap as my eyes got heavy as well. We had both been crying a lot, so it's understandable why we were so tired. I wondered if the doctors were even doing anything at this point. Every 10 minutes a new doctor would come in, ask me questions about what happened, what he took, what medication he's on, what he's allergic to, and many other questions I didn't have the strength to answer. 

Ethan still hadn't woken up, and I was beginning to wonder if he ever would. God dammit E, why did you have to do this to us.

-Hour Eight-

Ethan was still asleep when his blood pressure and heart rate suddenly plummeted. A loud alarm went off and a crew of nurses and doctors came rushing in yelling things I didn't understand.

"HE'S CRASHING! SOMEBODY GET ME A CRASH CART" one nurse said

"HE'S IN CARDIAC ARREST, I NEED A PUSH OF EPI AND CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE GET THIS MAN INTUBATED FOR CHRISTS SAKE" Another nurse yells

A female doctor walked in, she looked like she was very professional and spoke like she knew exactly what she was doing, yet she looked very young.

She was the only one speaking calmly, "Okay, after you get him intubated we are going to take him up to O.R two because I need to look at his heart. I'm going to use a Electrocardiogram so I can monitor his heart and see exactly what's happening. I'm pretty sure the medication he took had spread to his Medulla Oblangata, making him go into cardiac arrest. I need someone to page Shepherd and Koracic, while In the mean time I need Weber to assist me in taking this patient up to the OR."

What I presumed to be her intern nodded, "Right away Dr. Pierce"

Ethan was taken away almost as fast it had happened, and I wasn't sure what was happening. That Dr. Pierce sounded so sure of herself though, so I trusted her.

Elliana had woken up when Ethan crashed, and so we sat together, awaiting for Ethan to come out of surgery.

-Hour Eleven-

Elliana was sitting next to me impatiently when Dr. Pierce and a few others came out to great us. They didn't seem happy, which made my eyes well up immediately.

Dr. Pierce spoke first, "Mr. and Mrs. Dolan, we need to have a talk with you privately, come with us." she said calmly.
