Part 36 - Surprise!

-Elliana's POV-

It had been a little over a week after the surgery, and Ethan was getting better day by day. He progressed slowly, but that was to be expected. At first, he couldn't even walk, but he was a fighter, and now he can walk perfectly fine.

I was proud of how much progress Ethan had made, at first he even had trouble talking. He pushed himself to hard sometimes though, he just wanted to get out of this hospital, which I didn't blame him for at all.

Ethan and Grayson's mom showed up a couple days ago, and she was probably one of the most optimistic, and kind person I ever met. I was a little nervous at first, as surprisingly, this was the first time I met Grayson's mom. It was kind of a big deal, especially considering Gray and I were engaged, but it was great.

My stomach suddenly felt like it did a somersault. I ran to the bathroom as I threw up in the toilet.

ugh. stupid hospital food.

I walked back in to the room, sitting down back next to Grayson, continuing to think about my search for Camryn that got interrupted by Ethan.

Dr. Shepherd and Dr. Koracic walked in, snapping me out of my thoughts.

Dr. Shepherd smiled, "We have good news!"

Gray smiled as well, "What is it?"

Dr. Shepherd continued, "Well, the drugs that Ethan had taken caused damage to his brain yeah? And then in surgery, Koracic and I were unable to get all the damaged tissue out of his brain without risking paralysis or death. Well...Koracic and I were examining Ethan's CT scans from yesterday, and saw that all the infected tissue in his brain had deteriorated. His immune system was somehow able to grow new tissue over the damaged, and break down and get rid of all the other damaged cells. Dr. Koracic and I have never seen anything like this, and it's a miracle that Ethan's immune system was so strong."

I smiled, "Oh my gosh that's amazing! Thank you so much Dr. Shepherd"

She shook her head, "Please, call me Amelia"

"Thank you Amelia" Grayson replied, "And thank you too Dr. Koracic"

Dr. Koracic smiled and nodded while he and Amelia turned to walk out the door.

I turned to Ethan, "This is amazing E!"

Gray smiled, "ya we most likely won't have to stay here for very much longer either."

-2 hours later-

The nurses had brought in a few board games for us all to play while we waited on Ethan's discharge papers. We were playing Apples to Apples, and an intense nausea washed over me. I really needed to stop eating that hospital food.

I stood up to go get a glass of water, but as soon as I did, my vision went immensely blurry, and I passed out.

-Grayson's POV-

One minute Elliana was completely fine, she had just gotten up to get some water I believe, and she fell to the ground, unconscious.

I ran over to her, Ethan tried to get up too, but I pushed him back, telling him to stay in his bed.

"CAN I GET A NURSE IN HERE!!" I yelled out

A stream of nurses came rushing in, surrounding around Elliana. One of the male nurses brought in a gurney and placed her on it.

"You can follow us" He said to me.

I nodded my head as they wheeled her into a different room.

"SOMEONE PAGE DR. PIERCE" one nurse yelled.

Dr. Pierce walked in the room, "Already here, no need."

I stood back as Dr. Pierce worked her magic. She took Elliana's blood pressure, tested her reflexes, and checked her heart.

She looked over at me, "Everything seems fine, she most likely passed out from dehydration, but i'm going to run a few blood tests just to make sure."

I nodded.

Several of the nurses left the room along with Dr. Pierce, and the two that were still left in the room put an IV in her arm, and the other started whispering to the other.

I could barely hear them, but I made out the word "Ultrasound"

As they left the room, Elliana started to wake up. I went over to her and held her hand.

"W-what happened?"

I looked into her groggy eyes, "You uh got up to get water and then you just passed out."

She looked somewhat confused, and then continued, "S-so what's wrong with me?"

I shook my head, "No no babe, it's nothing like that. Dr. Pierce said that it was most likely from dehydration, but she's running some blood tests just to make sure."

Ethan and my mom eventually found Elliana's room, and came and sat anxiously with us, while we waited for the blood tests to come back.

-2 hours later-

I had no clue blood tests took this long, but I guess it made sense considering this was a hospital, so there were many people awaiting them.

After what seemed like eternity, Dr. Pierce and Dr. Shepherd came through the door.

But why was Amelia here, wasn't she a brain surgeon?

They had the biggest smiles on their face and I could tell it was going to be good.

-Elliana's POV-

Considering the huge smiles that spread across their faces, I wasn't that nervous anymore.

Dr. Pierce looked over at Gray and I holding hands, "Congratulations" she said.

I was confused, "On what?"

She chuckled, "Elliana, you and Grayson are going to have a baby"
