I looked into the mirror at my lanky body and long blonde hair. Today is the biggest cross country meet other than state. We travel in a bus for seven hours.
I was already to leave so I just went to the kitchen. I see my mom and dad fighting, so I just leave. I climb into my blue convertible and drove to school.

I get on the bus and sit with Emily Payton. She was already asleep when I sat down, but I didn't bother waking her up, so I fell asleep as well.

We arrive in Nome and everyone gets off the bus and stretches. I was ready to run. Run this 5k and get it over with.
