I walk into the living room to see the tv on, playing Looney Toons.
"Skyler?" I question, wondering if she was watching it. She doesn't watch Looney Toons though, she watches hockey. The only person I know who watches Looney Toons is...
"It's Emma." Emma's little head popped up from the couch.
"Oh, hi." I smiled. Emma and I have been secretly seeing each other for two weeks now. I'm happier with her if I'm being honest. I plopped on the couch next to her and wrapped my arm around her.
"Where is Skyler?" I asked.
"She went on a run with," she paused for a second. "Joelle." She added.
"Oh. More time with you then." I grinned.
"That's true." She giggled. I kissed the top of her head and watched Looney Tunes with her for a while. I heard the door job turning so I kissed Emma's head again and ran upstairs. I hate hidding things with Emma. I want to show her off to everyone at school, but I know Skyler wouldn't like that.
I get a text as soon as I shut my door. I grab my phone from my pocket and turn it on. It's a text from Payton.
Payton
Are you going to the party this Friday?
Brooks
Hell no. I'm done going to parties. Plus I need my sleep because that Saturday Skyler and I are going to Buffalo for natties camp. You should come with us. We have two extra tickets because our dad isn't coming, and nor is our uncle.
Payton
I'll check with my parents. But I'm still going to the party.
Brooks
Ok I'll see you at practice tomorrow.
Payton
Of course, ok bye.
Natties Camp is short for national camp. It's a hockey camp where all the best players around the country go and get checked out by scouts. It's Skyler's first year and my third. I'm very proud of Skyler for making it, and she is only 16.
