Skyler Rae's POV
My body aches as I ran next to Emma. She is too fast for me. I fell back quite a bit, but still in second. Emma stayed at least 750 meters in front of me.
She disappeared onto the track of the hill. The hill was the tricky part. On one side is a straight drop. At the bottom is more tracks for us to run.
I suddenly hear a scream, but thought it was just someone cheering us on, so I went faster. Up the hill, then down and take a turn. At the bottom of he cliff I see Emma. Lying helplessly on the ground, clutching her leg. I sprinted to her.
"Emma? What happened?" I asked. I watched as people passed up.
"I fell. Finish this off then get help." She stuttered, but I understand what she was saying.
A major adrenaline kicked in and I was off. Passing people along the way. Now I was in first place.
1k left, keep going!
There it was. The finish line and help. I past the line and sprint to Brooks and Payton who cheered me on.
"Where is Emma?" Brooks asked.
"Hurt! Go get coach! Payton come with me!" I shouted. Brooks ran off and Payton and I ran to Emma.
The sight of her made me cry. Everyone was still passing her like it was trash on the side of the street.
"What happened?" Payton's asked as we stopped.
"She might've fallen." I cried. I didn't know I was crying till I felt tears stream down my face. She seemed to have passed out, so Payton picked her up and we ran the the finish line again. Surprisingly we weren't last to finish. There were still at least 10 people. None being our girls. We saw and ambulance and ran to it. Brooks helped her on.
"You guys stay. Coach Clara and I will go. You two run as fast as you can. Be careful please." I was still crying. Brooks and Payton both hugged me with their sting arms.
"Ok, love you." Brooks said before running off to the boys team. Payton still had his arms around me. I wrapped mine around him.
"It'll be ok." He whispered and I nodded. He ran off and caught up with Brooks.
I turned to the ambulance car and jumped in and sat next to Coach Clara.
"Is she going to be ok?" I asked Clara.
"We don't know yet, but we are going to the hospital to see some x-rays." She announced.
