(:) Kara (:)

I have been sitting in my room for two hours watching TV. I have nothing to do and Masie went to find a job today. She wants to work at one of the clubs as a waitress but they said she's underage to work with alcoholic beverages.

I have been debating on getting a job at the local café but I'm not sure. I pick up my phone and see a few missed calls from AJ but there's two from my mom? My mom hasn't called me in years or seen me.

I press her contact Icon and hit call. I press my phone to my ear, hearing the call start dialing. "Kara?" I hear her voice say on the other end of the line. "Mom, I saw you called." My mom and I have had our differences in the past that haven't been resolved.

"Yes, I just wanted to check in on you. I haven't talked to you in a while." She says. I can hear her picking at something and I know she's probably nervous about calling me. "I'm fine, been busy with work." I lie, I'm not gonna let her know I'm unemployed.

"That's good, I just wanted to check-in." She says. Yeah, check-in after how many years? "Okay, goodbye," I say, hanging up the phone. I set my phone down and walk over to my closet. Masie asked to go out tonight and I said yes.

Let's just hope she doesn't leave me tonight for some guy. I wouldn't be surprised if she went home with some guy just to sleep with him. "Kara, you home?" Speak of the devil. I close my closet doors and start walking to the kitchen.

"Yeah, I'm home," I say, sitting at one of the bar stools. "Are you ready to go out tonight? We need to get there fashionably early." She says, flipping her hair. I roll my eyes at her before walking back to my room to find an outfit for the party.

"Imagine if we saw AJ and Trystan together at the club!" She yells from the kitchen. I step back into the kitchen, giving her a confused look. "What did you just say?" I ask her. "Imagine if AJ was cheating on you with Trystan." She snorts.

"So, you're saying he's....gay?" I ask her. She shrugs, eating a strawberry. "What if he is though?" She asks, her mouth full of food. "Masie, I'm sure he's not gay. Either of them for that matter." I tell her.

She shrugs walking to my room with me to look for party outfits. Masie finds an outfit for herself and digs through to find another. She pulls out a t-shirt for AC/DC with bleached out jeans and black low-cut sneakers.

I watch as Masie exits the room, going to put on her desired party outfit as well. I walk to the bathroom, closing the door behind me so I can change. As I am getting dressed I stop and stare at myself in the mirror.

"Who could ever love you..?" I say to myself. I shake out of my thoughts, throwing on the shirt Masie got for me. I walk out of the bathroom and see Masie sitting on the bed, silent. She's never silent. "Masie..?" I say, taking another step closer to her.

"I'm sorry." She says, not looking at me. She keeps her eyes to the floor. "For what?" I take another step closer to her. She looks up at me, "Everything." A tear runs down her face. "I'm like the worst friend." She laughs.

I shake my head at her. "No, you're not." I place a hand on her shoulder. "You're an amazing friend, it's our job to yell at each other," I say to her, trying to make her feel better.

She chuckles, "Yeah, I guess you're right." I wipe away one of her tears. "I love you girl," I say, pulling her into a big hug. "Love you too." She replies. She pulls away, standing off the bed.

"Listen, we don't have to go to this party." She says to me. I stand up, "are you kidding? Let's do this!" I say, grabbing her hand. Let's hope for a great night.
