I've been walking for what seems like forever until a guy came along and gave me a ride. Unfortunately, it was my dad. "What were you thinking? You could've gotten kidnapped or killed." He snaps at me, looking between me and the road. "Dad, I don't need you treating me like I'm five again." I snap at him, keeping my gaze directed out the window.
"Maisie, I'm just trying to help you get back on your feet." He says, his voice going lower. I roll my eyes, groaning. "Could you at least let me take you home?" He asks, looking over to me. I look over to him and nod. "Thank you." He says, looking back to the road. I sigh, leaning my head against my seat belt, looking out the window again.
Eventually, my dad pulls into the driveway of my house and I see Lee outside, sitting at the front door. He looks up when he hears my dad's truck pull in and he stands from his spot, his eyes full of worry. "Take care of yourself, Mais." He says, unlocking the door. I sit for a moment before unbuckling and getting out of the truck to meet Lee with a worried smile. He goes in for a hug but I walk right past him.
"Maisie! I thought you were dead or something." Lee says, closing the front door and trailing behind me to my room. I notice the door is still closed so I kick it open with my foot and walk inside. "So why didn't you come and look for me then?" I ask, crossing my arms and raising an eyebrow at him. "I called the police but they said they couldn't do anything but look for you." He says, scratching the back of his neck.
"I did look for you but when your dad called saying you were on the other side of town with him I knew I didn't have to worry anymore." He says, shrugging. I nod, walking to my desk to set my bag down on the chair. "Thank you," I say, turning around and giving Lee a huge hug. "For what?" He asks, taken aback from the hug. "For being a good boyfriend." I laugh, looking up at him. He smiles, kissing my forehead.
I pull away and walk to my closet, looking for a new change of clothes since that was one major thing to bring with me when I left. "I better get going back home, got a lot of shit to do," Lee says, leaning on the doorframe. I nod, giving him one last hug before he exits my room and the house itself. I sit down on my bed and tap my foot, not knowing what to do now.
I look to my phone and grab it, turning it on. I get a few notifications here and there but not very many that are important. "I know what you people are thinking and yes, I know I'm a horrible friend to the people I care about most and I completely understand that but, this is not the last you've seen of the crew. Grace tried her hardest in making this book for you guys so appreciate that. Thanks for reading our story! We love you!"
