I got my breathing right, and I still couldn't believe it. Dimitri turned Strigoi? How can that be... I thought he was better than that. Dimitri came towards me, but I knew the reason why: He was watching me. Just like every other time. I drank in his features: the pale skin, red -ringed eyes, and the most important one is his voice. There's no warmth in it at all. There is no trace of him being his true self. I swallowed, and he finally speaks.
"Roza." His voice wrapped around me. He still had the accent, but there was no warmth to it at all. It's just a cold, menacing tone.
I swallowed and came to a stop. No, he isn't the same person you knew, Rose! He's a monster. The part of him that loved you is gone. I kept saying it over and over to myself.
"I told you not to call me that!" I gritted my teeth as I struck out at him, but just like any other time we had practiced combat moves, he blocked me. I ducked as he tried to grab my shoulders - probably to pin me against the ground, but I quickly kicked his leg. It didn't do much good, though. Damn Strigoi strength. He caught me by the hair, making me scream in pain, as he jerked me to him.
"Maybe i shouldn't kill you, Roza.. Maybe I should make you like me. That way, we can be together forever and ever." He smiled coldly, and I could see his gleaming red eyes. I had to stop myself from cringing. Finally, I got my senses and scraped my stake against his arm - the one holding my hair, he lets out a snarl of pain, and he drops me to the floor. I catched my breath, got up, and slashed at his face. Which pained me in a way. I didn't really want to mess up his face. He was too fast and swivled around, taking to my left. I ducked as his hand came for my throat. I kicked him in the stomach, and he stumbled a bit. I ran at him and put all of my force into my kill, but something pushed me to the side, another striogoi. Emil's strigoi. I pushed the silver stake into the Strigoi's heart and turned around to see Dimitri, but Dimitri wasn't there anymore.
He was gone.
