To The Moon And Back

Chapter 8

Evelyn's POV

After 2 hours, I'm finally ready for my date with Shon. Since it was mid-April, and the weather was warm with a nice calm breeze, I put on a light pink tank top and high waisted white Jean shorts with a white cardigan and white converse. I put in earrings that we're gold and had a light pink jewel in the middle. I wore light makeup, because I hated wearing it caked I on my face. I went for a light pink and gold eyeshadow, with black mascara that made my blue eyes pop. I used a highlighter to outline my cheek bones and wore a light pink lipstick. And for my hair, I curled it lightly, so that my light brown hair was wavy and curled at the ends down to the middle of my back. I recently let my hair grow out over the years. Years ago, it was cut short up to my neck, and it made me look young and sweet. My hairstyle now makes me look cute and mature, and I loved it.

I look myself in the mirror one more time before nodding to myself. I check my phone, the time reading 8:17 p.m. Shon should be here soon, so I grab my purse, a white one that is gold on the inside. I go and sit on my couch and wait for him to arrive, so I scroll on Instagram, blankly liking photos of people that I don't actually like, but won't say it to their face.

20 minutes later, I see headlights in the driveway, and I stand up to and check to make sure I look good. A minute later, Shon knocks on the door, and I walk over, opening the door to smile at him.

His jaw drops a little when he looks at me, making me blush. He then smiles back to me and says, "wow. You look great."

I look at Shon, his brown hair is slicked back by some hair gel, his chocolate brown eyes sparkling. He's wearing white sneakers, black jeans with a plain white T-shirt with a light denim jean jacket,  his sleeves rolled up half way. There's always something attractive about a guy that rolls up their sleeves.

He catches me  practically drooling at him and smirks. "Ready to go? Or are you gonna keep staring? I'm fine with both."

I blush even more, then nod my head. "Yeah, I'm ready." He smiles and leaves me to his car, and opens the door for me. "Wow, what a gentleman, thank you." I say, smiling. He heads to the other side of the car and gets in, then starts driving.

Ten minutes later, we are on the highway, and I decide to turn on the radio. A Sam Smith song is playing, and I quietly sing along to it. Bored, I turn and look towards Shon. "Can you sing?"

He raises his eyebrows and shakes his head, a small smile forming on his lips. "I sing, just not in front of anyone."

I frown, then ask, "why? Are you a good singer?"

He laughs at the question. "Me? A good singer? Never in a million years."

"Aw c'mon I'm sure you sound great. Can you sing for me?"

He shakes his head, saying "Eve I don't think-"

I cut him off. "Please for me?" I drag my words and give him a puppy eye look.

He looks at me, then at the road and sighs. Taking that as a yes, I turn up the radio and find a song I like, All Of Me by John Legend. He starts singing, and I try holding back a laugh. When he gets to the chorus, I can't help but laugh. He stops singing and looks at me, his face full of embarrassment. "I'm sorry I'm sorry," I say in between giggles. "I can't help it! You sound like a dying whale!" I continue to laugh until I'm out of breath.

"See? This is why I don't sing. Because I sound like a dying whale." He says, then chuckles along with me.

Once we calm down from laughing, I look out the window. After a few minutes, I finally ask him," where are we going?"

He shrugs, then replies, "you'll see."

A while later, we pull into a busy parking lot of a place I've always wanted to go to. I get out of the car and look at the huge Dave And Buster's arcade building and gasp. "Oh my God! I've always wanted to go here!" I turn and smile at him. He smiles back, then grabs my hand. He leads me into the building where we buy our tickets, which were expensive. $100 for 750 chips? Holy crap!
