More writingtips!!

So, these aresomethings that I've picked up on since last time I published aboutwriting.

Firstly,

It's reallyhelpful to invest in a thesaurus. Even if you don't invest in one goonline and put the occasional word in because otherwise your stuckwith me and my every chapter saying,

"He raisedhis eyebrow."

Putting half those words into a thesaurus I endup with,

"Heelevated his brow."

Secondly

Try to use sentences that you haven't used overand over again, if we use my edited sentence from above, I'll addwords I don't often use in attempt to make the sentence moreinteresting,

"Theblonde haired boy elevatedhis right brow inan arching motion."

Nineextra words and immediately the sentence iswaymoreinteresting.

Lookingat the original sentence I only kept one word. His.

Thirdly

Get yourself an editor and I don't mean anonline editing app or your best friend, you need someone who isn'treally your friend and will give you an honest opinion. Maybe anotherwriter here on Wattpad.

Really good questions to ask your editor arethings such as;

Was the ending predictable?

Were my phrases repetitive?

Was the story over used/cliche?

When was the point you began to get bored andskim read?

What was the point in which you got excited andwere anxious to read?

-Did this moment even happen or was the bookjust a continual neutral plot until the end?

Did any specific part make you emotional?

Thebest type of person to be an editor is someone who is already one ofyour readers and doesn't seem to leave comments and if they dothey're already points where you can do small edits and make the bookbetter.

Fourthly

Spell check.

Honestly, whether or not you have an editor ornot you should have at least done a spell check. You ideally want thework you give to your editor to be your best work, then if the editorfinds a problem with your work and you fix, then your work is betterthan your best work.

Fifthly

Puncuation.

I know, I know. Mine isn't fantastic but inorder for someone to actually want to read your book you need goodpuncuation. And constant paragraph spacing, don't have uneven gaps,it tends to make readers think you don't know what you're doing.

Sixthly

Capitalization

It's really important that you make sure youhave capital letters where they're needed because otherwise readersfeel like your not putting in enough effort. This leads them to goingto find a new book leaving yours unread.

Random bits of helps.

Don't write really long paragraphs. You can keep it the same length, in a way. Cut it into certain sections, when you move onto another bit of description cut the paragraph and begin a new one.

Avoid using cliché plots like 'wow look, the jock fell in love with the nerd.' Like yeah, every now and then. And ocassionally it's really good to read one. But, after a while it's like 'oh great, another one.'

These are all really important things to thinkabout while writing because i've read books without paragraph spacingor correct grammer and some of them are really good. There's just alot of people who would see that and stop reading.
