Fourteen

    Summer vacation. You would think summer vacation would be fun. A nice time to relax you're brain. Don't have to worry about school work. Well, for most families. The Rosewoods? Mr. and Mrs. Rosewood figured they would whip Juniper into shape by making her act like a Ravenclaw at home. Everything she did wrong she would be punished. She hardly got to play with her brother and her two best friends because they constantly had her studying or reading a book.

If she had finished her work or finished reading they would make her clean. If she was done cleaning they would make her exercise, telling her she needed to get into shape. They had found out she got on the Gryffindor quidditch team. If she had gotten into Ravenclaw they would have been proud considering her father was on the quidditch team as well but it was Gryffindor.

But she did have to admit she was glad they were making her exercise. She was starting to get really fit and she didn't mind being fit at all. They made her wear all these fancy dresses which in her opinion, she wasn't a big fan of. How was she supposed to practice quidditch in a dress? They would make her wear the really fancy ones when her parents threw parties for their friends. But she did like the parties, because she finally got some sort of break.

Even though she did have to serve everyone, that was a time she could just sort of relax or hang out with her friends. She didn't like the part where some of her dad's creepy friends would touch her though. I mean she was only 12 almost 13. It was very uncomfortable. Lucas had to constantly pull Juniper away from guys who were getting way to close for comfort.

Speaking of parties, her parents were hosting one tonight. School was coming up and they wanted to throw a going back to school sort of party. Of course it was for Lucas but Juniper didn't care. Juniper puts on a dress her mother set out for her. Her mother had already done her hair and put make up over all her scars. She had braided it all together into a bun in the back, almost like she was wearing a flower crown. She also puts on some black flats.

Once Juniper's done getting ready in her dress, the top half being a black color with spaghetti straps and the lower part being a pink color, she walks down the half spiral staircase where she could hear talking. Some of the guests were already here. She walks into the large living room and smiles as she sees her friends huddled up and talking as well as some people scattered around the room talking and laughing with one another. She walks over to the three who were dressed up as well because they always had to dress up for these parties.

"Hello June. Don't you look ravishing" Summer greets, bowing at her, causing Juniper to rolls her eyes. "Why thank you. But I must say, you look more presentable than me" Juniper smirks, bowing as well causing Summer to chuckle. "I can't believe the summer is almost over guys. It feels like we just got out of school" Lucas admits. "I've been waiting all summer to go back to Hogwarts. Anywhere is better than..." She trails off looking around for her parents before leaning in closer. "This hell hole" She mutters.

"Letter's should be sent out soon. Father and I are going shopping for school supplies right when they come out." Draco chimes in. "We should all go together" Summer suggests. "Yeah. We could ask our parents" Lucas nods. "By 'we', you mean you. If I ask for anything, I'll probably get slapped" Juniper brings up. "Fine, I'll ask" He tells her and she nods.

As more guests arrive, the living room gets filled up and chatter fills the room. Mrs. Rosewood walks over to the quartet who were talking about quidditch. "Juniper, dear. We need you to start serving the drinks" Her mother tells her. Juniper nods and walks into the kitchen. She grabs one of the many wine bottles and starts pouring it into wine glasses.

She places them on serving trays before making her way out of the kitchen. She walks around to the many people, asking if they'd like a drink. Some take it, others tell her "no thank you", some flirt with her, much to her dismay, and others glare at her for interrupting their conversations. As she keeps making her way back and forth, filling up drinks, her mother storms over to her. "What do you think you're doing?" She seethes. "Serving drinks?" Juniper answers as more of a question.

"You should be serving appetizers right now! Unbelievable! Stick to the schedule" She scolds her daughter before taking a deep breath, smoothing out her dress, and walking back out. Juniper huffs and rolls her eyes before starting to pile food from the table onto the serving trays. She starts walking out of the kitchen, putting on more fake smiles as she walks around.

As the party drags on and on, her mother finally gives her a break. "Merlin's beard, I thought I would never get a break" Juniper cries as she reaches Summer and Lucas. "Finally!" Summer exclaims. "Where's Drac?" Juniper wonders, looking around the party for any sign of the boy. "He's somewhere, hanging out with Crabbe and Goyle" Lucas explains and she nods. 

They hear glass clinking and the party quiets down. "Good evening guests. We'd like to thank you for coming. As you all know, school is starting up soon. We'd like to take a moment to congratulate our son for moving on to his second year" Mr. Rosewood announces, holding a glass of red wine with his arm draped over his wife's shoulders. They motion for Lucas and Lucas puts on a smile as he walks toward his parents.

Juniper crosses her arms and rolls her eyes as they all cheer for Lucas. She watches as her mother brings him into a big side hug as she gets someone to take a picture of the three. Summer rubs her shoulder comfortingly as she sees the huge frown on Juniper's face. "Juniper darling! More drinks!" Mrs. Rosewood calls out and Juniper sighs sadly before giving Summer a look and walking back into the kitchen.

Juniper's mind floods with thoughts as she pours more drinks. 'Why must my parents hate me so much? What have I ever done to them'? She was so deep in thought that she didn't notice the creep behind her, staring her up and down. She turns around with the tray of drinks and accidentally slams into the guy, spilling the drinks all over him and herself. He looks down at his now ruined suit as Juniper gasps and covers her mouth.

"Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't see you there" She quickly apologizes, scrambling to go get napkins. "You ruined my suit! You just wait, little girl!" He shouts, pointing a finger at her. Mr. and Mrs. Rosewood rush into the kitchen after hearing the commotion and find the guy glaring at their daughter while she grabs napkins. They notice glass and wine all over the floor and the guy and her drenched in wine. "What happened here?" Mr. Rosewood demands. "Your daughter threw her wine tray at me!" The guy lies.

Juniper's eyes widen in shock. Did he really just lie to them? "Juniper Eleanor Rosewood! We taught you better than that! I can't believe you would do something like that!" Mrs. Rosewood screeches as Summer, Lucas and Draco peak in. "Mother, Father, I-I swear it was an accident. I ran into-" "We don't want to hear another word! Up to your room! We'll deal with you later!" Mr. Rosewood tells her, ripping the napkins out of her hands. Juniper keeps her head down, quickly walking up the stairs and into her room.

She falls onto her bed as tears roll down her cheeks. It wasn't even her fault. 'What was the guy even doing there and so close to her?' She thought as she silently cried, hugging her pillow tightly. A knock on the door is heard and she tries to wipe her tears away, thinking it was her parents. The door opens and she glances over at the door to see her friends. She sighs as Draco shuts the door behind him.

"June, what happened? Are you okay?" Summer asks, taking a seat right next to her on her bed. Juniper sits up as Draco and Lucas sit at the edge. Juniper sniffles and wipes her tears away. "I was just pouring some drinks and the stupid guy was behind me. I think he was like checking me out and I turn around and accidentally ran into him, spilling the wine all over us. Then he lied and said I did it on purpose" Juniper sobs as Summer brings her in for a hug. "It's okay, June. We're here for you" Summer assures her as she gives the other two a concerned look. What were they gonna do to her?

The beginning of The Chamber of Secrets! What do you guys think? Do you like the whole party thing? I liked it. Very fun to write. Next chapter we'll get to see the Weasley's and the Granger's when they go shopping in Diagon Alley. Can't wait!
