"Babe, wake up!"
That's how I woke up this morning, with my girlfriend yelling and shaking me. I grumble and turn over, facing away from her. Then the warmth of the blanket was tore from my body. A cold blast hit me and I groaned. "What, Lapis?" I rolled over onto my back, staring up at Lapis. Lapis smiles down at me. "Get dressed loser, we're going on an adventure!" She tugs on my arm like an attention hogging puppy.  I groan, "Lapis last time we went on one of your 'adventures' we almost died!" I yelled.
"BULLSHIT!"
"Lapis.... You almost drove the motorcycle in a ditch!"
"People don't know how to drive!" She defended herself, and I sighed. "Fine.. Just give me a few minutes.." I sat up in the bed, Lapis clapped her hands excitedly. Why is she in such a chiper mood this morning? This is unlike her... She is usually sleeping in till late in the afternoon on Sundays... I shruged it off and got up and off of my bed to change. I changed into a black tank-top, throwing a green flannel over top of it, and a pair of wore out blue jeans. I put on my shoes and then walked into the bathroom to brush my hair, once I had brushed the fluffy hair, with only a few "Ow's", I walked back into the living room of our aparment. Lapis was sitting on the couch, she was still in the same chipper mood from this morning. However, you could see slight fear in her eyes. I was going to ask her what was wrong, but before I could get a word out of my mouth Lapis jumped up off of the couch, excited.
"Let's go!" She smiled and started her walk to the door. "Where are we even going?" I asked as I followed a couple feet behind her.
"We going to FunLand, y'know, to have FUN!" Lapis chuckled.
"Babe we've been dating for 3 years...However, I feel I've aged 20." I joked and Lapis turned around to look at me. "You love me~" she grinned.
"Just a tad." I joked, again. Lapis huffed in response. We walked out into the parking lot of the apartment building. Lapis walked to her motorcycle and hopped on, starting it up. I climbed on once Lapis gave me the signal to do so. I wrapped my arms around her waist, laying my head on her back, my normal actions. Lapis started driving, whenever we turned I would tighten my grip on Lapis's waistline. I watched the road zoom under us as Lapis drove. It was calming. I smiled to myself.
After awhile we arrived at FunLand and both got off of the motorcycle. Lapis clutched onto my hand with a shaking hand. I looked up at her with a worried expression. Why is she acting different?
"Lapis... Are you okay..?" I gently squeezed her hand.
"Oh.. Yeah, I'm great." She gave me a fake smile. It stung. Something is wrong and she won't tell me. I looked forward, I'll just have to ask her about when we get home... The day was great. However, it would have been better if Lapis wasn't playing the nervous game all day. I would kiss her cheek and she would jump in surprise. I would kiss her lips and she'd hesitate to kiss back. She started out so happy this morning but as the day went on she became more and more nervous. You could just tell, however, she won't tell me what's wrong. We spent our time at FunLand riding almost every ride and playing almost every game.
We had decided to walk around downtown before going home. We walked around the heart of downtown and stopped at a local ice cream parlor, I had gotten mint chocolate chip and Lapis had gotten plain vanilla. We were walking down the sidewalk on a rather empty road. Her mood lightened up and she was the happy Lapis I loved, though the nervousness was still there.
"Hey... Peridot... I need to ask you something..." Lapis mumbled, tossing her ice cream container in a nearby trash can. I nodded. "What's up?" I looked up at her, still eating on my ice cream. She walked beside me, closer to the road, she took a deep breath.
"Peri, I love you and you know this. Correct?" Lapis twiddle her thumbs. I should have responded faster. Because before I could respond there was a loud squeal of rubber skidding across the ground. Looking up there was a large truck drifting around the corner at a high speed. Swerving all over the road. And then it happened. In the blink of an eye.
The loud squeal of the tires.
The truck.
The swerving.
And then before I could do anything it happened.
The truck slammed into Lapis, throwing over 20 feet away from me. The truck barley missed me. The sheer force of the truck flying by pushed me back onto the ground. Pain shoot through my back, I ignored it and shoot back up, turning myself in every direction before I found Lapis. Blood splattered around her.
"LAPIS!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, bolting over to her. As I ran I tore off my flannel. Once getting over to Lapis I dropped to the ground and picked up her head, where she was bleeding the most, I held the flannel to the back of her head. I hadn't realized the tears violently flowing down my face till I saw them fall and hit Lapis's cheek. She looked up at me, and the mixture of my tears along with her own blood spread out on her face hit me hard. Her pupils were dilated. She smiled and reached weakly for my hand, I grabbed onto and squeezed her hand. I choked up, I couldn't speak, with every passing second it felt harder and harder to breath.
"P-Peri..." I jumped slightly from hearing her voice. It was so soft and weak, nothing I've ever heard from her. I could only nod in response.  I brought her closer to myself. Picking up her upper half as I continued to bawl, my tears falling onto her chest.
"I...have a... question..." She breathed out, shakily.
"A-A-Anything...." I forced myself to speak. I saw Lapis give a small weak smile. She squeezed my hand weakly.
"Will... You marry... Me...?"
I stared crying harder.
"Lapis. This isn't the time for jokes!" I sobbed. Then seeing Lapis reach down into the pocket of her jacket, pulling out a small box. She fumbled with the box to open it, managing to get it open and hand the box to me. It was a small good band, with a clear gap slipping itself around the band, small diamonds inside. My breath hitched and I stared down the Lapis and the ring in her bloodied hand. I cried and smiled weakly, choking up.
"Yes... I will..."
and with that.
She left.
She died.
The light left her eyes slowly and she smiled up at me. I shook her.  "Lapis..? Lapis! Jokes over Lapis! Lapis.. please.." I prayed.. I prayed this was one of her jokes, that this was just a bad dream, I prayed for god to strike me dead. I shook her again. Trying. I sobbed staring at her. Her face held a smile even though blood covered her face. I held her close to my chest, her blood cascading down my arm and rubbing onto the tank top. I looked at the ring again. And did what Lapis would've done. I put in on. A perfect fit.......

A perfect fit.
A perfect ring.
A perfect date.
From a perfect person.
A perfect Girlfriend.
Someone I would've called a perfect wife.
Someone I used to call a perfect lover.
Someone that's smile and voice lit up my day.
Someone who I had a perfect relationship with.
Someone who I love.... or loved...
Everything was perfect.

But not the ending.

"I love you, Lapis......."
