As soon as Breckin disappears into the bathroom I stand up and start walking over towards Zach and his friends. I take another quick glance towards Kamri and she gives me a thumbs up. As soon as I approach Zach he smirks. Omg, that smirk, it makes me weak in the knees. I'm usually really confident when it comes to talking to boys, but damn. He makes me get butterflies like crazy.
"Hi, my name is Ashley." I give him a sweet smile.
"Oh hey, I'm Zach."
"I was sitting over there with my friends." i turn back and point towards Kamri, "and i thought you were really cute so i just wanted to say hi." He looks over towards Kamri who gives him a small wave, then turns back to look at me.
"Well, I think you're gorgeous." He gives me an adorable wink then holds his hand out. "Here, give me your phone."
"Oh okay, sure." I type in my password and hand him my phone. I watch him create a new contact and add his number to it.
"Text me." He then hands me back my phone.
"I will, for sure." I turn around and fast walk towards Kamri who is smiling really big.
"Did he give you his number?"
"Yes, omg he said, text me." I can't stop smiling. Just then Breckin comes back sits down with us. Kamri kicks me under the table and shakes her head no, which i'm assuming meant not to tell Breckin about Zach yet. Breckin looks at her phone as she gets a notification.
"Woah, Ash my mom just texted me and said that we have new neighbors moving in, wanna go check it out?"
"Yeah, sure." We gather our things and load back into my jeep. The ride home is full of music and laughter. Deep down inside i feel awful for keeping this from Breck, i always tell her everything. I try to brush it off by turning the music up. Once i pull into my driveway Traci walks out with a basket full of cookies as a welcome gift for our neighbors.
"Thanks Traci, i'm sure they'll love these!"
"Of course honey, let me know if they're nice!" she waves and heads back inside, and we head down the road towards our new neighbors house. After i park my car the three of us girls walk up to the door. As soon as i knock i was shocked by who opened the door. Zach. He give me a sweet smile but frowns as he sees Breckin standing next to me. I look over and notice that Breckin looks uneasy.
"Um, hi Zach." I try to break the silence.
"Hey there Ash, would u like to come in?"
"Of course!" just as i start to walk in Breckin pulls my arm back. Zach gives her a threatening look.
"Excuse me for a second Zach, i need to talk to my bestfriend for a minute." She glances between Zach and I. Kamri stands there awkwardly and Zach motions for her to come inside and she follows while mouthing good luck as she walks inside. Breckin quickly turns to me with fire in her eyes.
"How does he know your name?" I hesitate.
"I uh kinda talked to him while you were in the bathroom."
"Ashley, are you kidding me right now?" She was furious.
"What's the big deal huh? Just because your family has beef with his doesn't mean that i can't talk to him!" i shouted.
"Don't you understand, you are my family. So yes, that does mean you can't talk to him!" she yells back.
"Have you ever actually tried to talk to him before?" I fire at her.
"No, of course not!" there is a hint of disgust in her tone. "Ugh whatever go mingle with him, but i'm leaving. And make sure you're home by midnight." she storms off and starts walking home. I sigh then walk through the door into Zach's house. I notice Kamri sitting with Zach and four other guys. She instantly gets up as she sees me walk in and pulls me aside.
"So, how'd it go?"
"Not good, she's pissed." i glance up to see Zach starring intently. "but oh well, let's just get to know our extremely hot neighbors." she nods and we walk back over towards the boys. i sit down between Zach and Kamri and all the guys start introducing themselves.
"Hi, i'm Corbyn." says the one with really cute blonde hair.
"I'm Jack." says the one with curly, noodle looking hair.
"I'm jonah, it's nice to meet you!" jonah was tall and polite.
"and i'm daniel" he gives a quick smile
"it's really nice to meet you guys, i'm ashley!"
"yeah we know." says jack. i raise my eyebrow, confused. Jack seems to sense my confusion. "Zach has been stalking your instagram for weeks." he begins to laugh as Zach's cheeks get even redder than normal.
"They're lying." Zach says while giving out a nervous laugh.
"mhm. i'm sure." we all begin laughing. Kamri leaves after about an hour to go home and babysit her cousins but i stay a while longer. All of these guys are so much fun. After a night of laughter and getting to know each other i happen to look at my phone and notice it's 3 am!!
"Oh crap, Breckin is going to kill me." Zach looks over at me with concern.
"Why's that?"
"Because it's 3 in the morning!"
"and?"
"I promised her i wouldn't stay out past midnight." i've had a history of staying out late to party, and she has really helped me break that habit.
"Why does it matter how late you stay out? she's not your mom."
"Yes, i know that but..." i trail off. this subject is really touchy for me because 6 months ago i almost lost my life when my boyfriend at the time was driving me home from a party, while under the influence. This is mostly the reason why i stopped staying out super late. Zach must've noticed me start to tear up because he grabbed my arm gently and lead me upstairs to what i'm assuming was his room. He sad down with me on his bed.
