Kinsley
Apparently I'm not allowed to look at Felix's chapter. Don't know why. The author probably just wants to annoy me. It's working.
I'll just start from when I saw Felix running after Talon.
After I advised him to not kill her and he was out of my sight, I continued my way outside. I needed some fresh air. By that time it was evening, so the sun was just starting to set. I was leaning backwards on the seemingly small house when I heard the creek of the door moving. I looked to my left to see Ryder coming toward me and digging his hand in his pocket, searching for something.
When he looked up and saw me he let out a disappointed sigh that I could clearly hear. "Good to see you too," I greeted him sarcastically as I crossed my arms.
He leaned backwards on the house next to me, but not acknowledging me, which was fair. It was silent as he pulled out a pack of cigarets. Like he just noticed I was there too, he tilted the box to me and asked, "Want one?"
I shook my head. "No thanks. I don't smoke," I told him in a nicer tone. When someone offers you something, even if you're rejecting it, I was taught that you need to be kind. He nodded understandingly. The silence was back as he picked out a cigaret and lit it with a lighter he got from his other pocket, then started smoking it. Luckily it wasn't an awkward silence. Those are the worst.
As this continued, might as well explain what we were doing before we came out here. After the meal and cleaning up, the first thing we did was finish our argument about Crackers. Which then led to the topic of whether or not ghosts were real. Which led to talking about magic, and so on. We were having all of these conversations in his room, on the second floor at the very end of the hall, so I have no idea what happened with the other two when they were downstairs. Though, I thought I did hear a faint doorbell over our yelling.
We may not have talked about anything super controversial, but any topic where we disagree on is pretty sensitive. I coughed a little when I accidentally inhaled some of his smoke. I swear, if I lived with him 24/7, I would die of second hand smoking.
"What? Can't handle a little smoke?" He smirked, looking at me with one of his eyebrows raised.
"A little? You're practically making a pollution cloud with that thing." I gestured to his cigaret. I might have been exaggerating a bit, but there was a good amount of smoke around us. He smiled at me. I would've thought he would smirk or laugh at me. Instead he gave me a warm and kind smile, which made me feel like blushing.
I looked down to keep him from seeing it. That would be embarrassing, and then I'd have to yell at him. As I looked at the ground I saw tire tracks. I tilted my head. Ryder followed my gaze and saw the tracks too.
"Someone paid us a visit. Recognize those tires?" He pointed to them.
"Slaton's car. He probably came to talk to Talon about the donut robbery. And since I saw her earlier, it means he didn't arrest her. Which also means... we have work tomorrow," I explained the last part in an exhausted voice.
He laughed at me. "Sucks for you. I'm so glad I don't have a day job." He laid his head back on the wall.
"Oh please. You couldn't get a day job if you tried. You have no normal skills whatsoever."
He gasped dramatically. "Yes I do. I can cook."
"Yeah, Lasagna. That's it."
He pursed his lips. "Fine. You win."
We went back to our comfortable silence for the rest of our time outside. Once there was only the butt of the cigaret left, he threw it on the ground and stepped on it to put it out. "Shall we?" He playfully bowed and stepped back for us to go inside.
