Author: Thought I should tell you, there are going to be a few gifs in this. There's a texting scene, so yeah. Uuhhh... Okay, enjoy!

I'm starting to hate the universe. Sorry, that's unfair to the universe. What I actually meant to say is that I hate my friends. More specifically, Talon. Wow, do Felix and I always start our chapters off saying we loath our friends? Too late now.

Remember how Felix was describing how Seven Minutes in Heaven was? Well, he probably didn't say too much about the fact that I was partnered with Slaton. My boss! It was extremely awkward, and I was scared to go to work on Monday.

Nothing really happened though, but just the fact that my boss and I were in a confined, closed space alone together heightened my anxiety by 100. Afterward, I pulled Talon into the kitchen to 'talk'. I didn't hesitate to slap her in the face. She didn't take it to offense. It was like she was expecting it.

"Yeah, I deserved that," she sighed after I slapped her. "But also rude."

Thankfully, the party passed by quite quickly after that. I spent the next day sleeping in until four pm and reflecting on my life choices. It was fun.

I really had no other choice but to do that since my only two friends were busy on a date. Oh yeah, they went on their first date on Sunday. Talon would have probably narrated that for this chapter instead, but the author doesn't know how to write lovey-dovey stuff.

Author: Not my fault emotions suck.

Anyway, then it was Monday. Felix called me ahead of time to tell me that he couldn't meet up on the first floor, saying that his team leader wanted the whole team in the basement by five am. I can only imagine and laugh at his frustration getting up that early.

Ooh, guess what?

Talon and I finally got our own case!

I was stoked! It was so boring between cases, even Talon was glad for the new work. Slaton gave us the folder and sources and papers himself, along with an intern. I didn't know we had interns.

I stopped him before he walked away, stepping in his way. "Hey, since when did we get interns? Can we have one?"

He shook his head. "We don't have interns. This guy's been following me since five blocks away. I'm just letting him do his thing," he shrugged, glancing back at the 'intern'. He had long, greasy green hair and wore white jeans and a neon green tank top; his skin sickly pale. Slaton looked back at me with an annoyed expression. "You have full authority to shoot him if he does anything weird."

My face lit up at the thought. "Really? Thanks. I'll keep an eye on him for you."

"Great. Green dude!" He called to the... well, I guess green dude. The new guy looked at him with a big, kind smile. "You're staying with them until you decide to leave. Cool? Cool." He didn't give him a chance to respond before walking away, but not before giving me a thankful look.

If I had to watch him, I might as well know a little about him. "Uh, so what's your name?" He didn't answer, just continued to smile kindly. "Okay, uh, well, you can grab a chair and sit next to Talon. She's the girl with the dark red hair, and my partner. He nodded and proceeded to follow my directions, stealing a chair from Anthony's desk. I'd apologize later.

"Tal, meet whatever-his-name-is. He's staying with us for the day," I explained, sitting back down next to her.

She glanced up from the stack of papers she was flipping through with a serious expression than back down. It took her a few seconds to fully process what she saw above the papers. Slowly, she looked back up to the green dude, seeming greatly confused.
