Talon
I'm going to skip over the rest of the week. It was pretty boring, and we didn't get our own case. There was this kidnapping case that we were right hands on, but that was it.
Pretty boring. And if you're wondering, the kid was found and brought to his parents. Don't worry. They still hadn't found the kidnapper though... but I'm not going to talk about work right now.
There is more important stuff to focus on, like throwing that party. Right now it was Saturday afternoon. Kinsley and I decided to hold the party in my house, which I disagreed on at first since I didn't want people to trash my house. Especially if a couple got drunk and started looking for a private room. But Kinsley reasoned that they could only use my house because Kin's house was being occupied by termites at the moment and the exterminator was taking care of it today. But I'm not stupid. She was good with coming up with excuses, I'll give her that. We both knew she just didn't want to put her house through all that pain.
So we used my house. Kinsley was out buying booze and wine and Coke, while I decorated everything with the occasional help from Felix when he wasn't staring or eating the snacks I bought the day before for the party. But I of course let him. I did warn him that the only thing he couldn't eat was the donuts. Those were for later, and I didn't want them gone before this thing even started.
Kinsley didn't give me a theme. Her exact words were: "We don't need a theme. But if you want, you can make it romantic or cute or something. I don't care." That was a pretty obvious theme that I was already planning to do. It's like saying to decorate a party for St.Patrick's Day green. So it didn't help me decide.
I hate making decisions! It's so much work and everything could go wrong if you choose incorrectly. So naturally, I annoyed Felix until he gave me a theme idea.
I had jumped onto his back and yelled into his ear, "Help me!"
"Oh my god! Can you not yell in my ear, maniac?" Felix yelled back, struggling to turn his head to face me with me still on his back.
"Tell me! It doesn't matter if it's stupid. I'll just blame you if Kinsley's mad."
He knew rolled his eyes. "Ugh, god. Fine. A dinner with your grandma. How's that for a theme?"
I jumped off of him gracefully (not) and tapped my finger on my chin, thinking. "That could work. I could also mix in a bar theme," I said mostly to myself.
"But no judgements. I don't need you calling me too skinny in Spanish too," he warned me.
I nodded and laughed at him a little bit. "Deal. Now let's go get everything!" I grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the house.
We spent three hours just getting the food, mostly because we would get distracted and ate it sometimes. We spent an hour getting bar decorations at some stores. I scared Felix with a rubber spider I saw in one of the stores, even though it was nowhere near Halloween. (It's March, since the author it writing this during the month.)
I'm pretty proud of myself, given with what I was working with. A wonderful Lasagna was cooking in the kitchen for Ryder and Felix. The rest of us would eat some rice and beans, maybe some Mofongo from that restaurant, whose name was actually Rice and Beans. (Good restaurant. I don't like everything there, but there are some really good dishes.) For snacks there was a fancy dinner table covered in trays or plates of donuts, cupcakes, and of course, chips. Can't go wrong with chips.
As for decorations, it wasn't much since it was only about fifteen people, so I didn't go all out. There were counters/tables in the corners with shelves that I filled with wine and beer. You don't really need anything else when it comes to a party. To be fair, I haven't been to many parties. I know, surprising! I was always invited to parties in high school, but during that time I didn't like being around people. Tons of people crammed into one room, dancing, sweating, and making out? That would be a definite no for me. I only started to sort of enjoy parties in college, mostly when I went to Quantico just to annoy Kinsley and get her to loosen up.
