Chapter 17 - A Second Chance

"It's been a long time since I went to this zoo.. I think it's 8 years ago or maybe more." I said as we walked into the zoo. Caleb smiled nodding as he looked around us to see if there's paparazzi or maybe people trying to take a picture of us.

"It's okay, it's safe for us to go out like this now. Our dads kinda work together with a lot of people from the entertaiment world to protect our privacy or maybe scandals that going around." I said so he can be comfortable. His expression change and he's trying calm down.

"Oh.. there's a sea lion." Caleb said as he's pointing his finger to a sea lion. He took my hand and pulled me towards it. We stopped in front of the section of the sea lions and Caleb was smiling like a kid.

"It's fascinating to see." He said and I nodded. We walked to another section to see the gorillas. There's a big gorilla currently eating his banana and I laughed looking at him. I even took a video of him munching on his banana.

"Well that's you.." Caleb commented and I turned my head to him.

"Oh no no.. that's you." I said.

"You eat just like him." I looked at him disbelief. I turned to see for another gorilla and I found one. I pointed my finger to the gorilla on the other side.

"Caleb Lemiere, that is you.. the stinky one." I laughed because that gorilla just scratched his butt and then smelled it. I laughed my heart out as I walked to video it.

"Funny." He commented flatly.

"Oh come on.. you used to do that when you're a kid." I teased him and he just shook his head.

"Stinky Caleb." I said and he ended up laughing too.

"So you're going to open up that secret card huh?"

"Hey.. that's not a secret. You literally scratched your butt on Kiera's birthday and then you smelled it. Oh yeah! Not only smelling it but you took a cookie with that hand too!" I said and looked at him disgusting. He looked at me speechless.

"Oh I see.. You once took out your booger and then ate it!" My eyes widen and I smacked his arm.

"I did not."

"Oh yeah, you did it. You ate it like it'd the most delicious food in the world. You're just nasty from birth, Serena." I looked at him glaring and he smirked wiggling his eyebrows.

"Oh.. do you remember when Zion put a gum on your hair?" He suddenly asked and I nodded.

"He ruined my life."

"You cried like there's no tomorrow and that was kinda cute." He said and his eyes widen realizing what he said. He walked away first and I chuckled silently. I followed him to go to see the lions and tigers.

"I want a pet lion." I randomly said.

"Keep on dreaming.. they will eat you alive." Caleb said and I pouted. He turned into a serious man and I smacked his arm.

"What?" He asked.

"You know.. you're like a girl on their period." I said and he raised his eyebrows. I walked away and saw the otters. I took a lot of pictures of it.

"So cute.." I squealed as seeing them swimming around. Caleb stood beside me silently and I turned to him. I stood straight beside him and took a really deep breath.

"Restarting.. don't you think that we might hurt each other again?" I asked in a small tone.

"You'll never know until we try." He said and I bit my lips thinking

"Slowly?" I asked and I turned to him.

"Yeah." He nodded and then he turned to me.

"Close your eyes." I said and he raised his eyebrows.

"Huh?"

"Just trust me, close your eyes." I said and he looked at me suspiciously. I looked at him bored and he closed his eyes. I smirked and walked away slowly. I ran away towards the hippo section. I sat on the bench facing the hippo watching it swims cutely.

"Well.. I won't trust you again." I turned to see Caleb glaring at me as he sat beside me.

"I still don't know if I can.. restart again." I said truthfully as I looked at the ground blankly.

"I can see that you're serious but I still don't trust this situation. I like spending time with you, Caleb, but I don't think we really belong together." I said letting out my heart out.

"Growing up seeing my parents loving each other was a normal sight for me and my siblings. We know one day that we will have our own other half and we will have that happily ever after like my parents but it's not that easy to achieve that." He said and I turned to him waiting for him to continue.

"When you're on your early 20s, all you want is to have fun and just live the life that you will never get in the future but I guess mine was quite different. We were screwing each other quite often until I felt attach with you, Serena. Trust me.. I won't sleep with the same girl twice if that girl is not special." I heard he's lowering his voice.

"I was stupid back then, if I know that I will lose you like this, I want to turn back time just to fix things. 5 years staying in Canada, I learnt a lot of things and one of them is trying to see clearly my feelings for you, Serena." That made my heart tingle a little bit.

"I know it's hard. I know you went through a lot of tough times for the past 5 years but can you consider my condition as well?" That made me realize that it's not only me that suffered from what happened but he did too. I gulped nervously thinking about it.

"I want you to give me a chance, Serena. I will try my best to make you happy and pick up all the pieces that we left off years ago. We might not have a great start but can we just make our ending to be great?" He said and I can feel that he's genuinely want this.

"I won't force you to answer me now but please think about it." He said as he got up from his seat.

"I'll go first.. you can call me when you have your answer." He added and then he left me. Tears filled my eyes and I cried there. I literally cried in public and I don't care about it.

Why we have to be like this?
