Ivan's P.O.V.
Standing outside the brown door, I was contemplating whether to rang the bell or not. I glanced at my watch for the hundredth time. It's ten at night. I've been standing here for the past ten minutes. The passers-by are giving me weird looks. Holding the basket of fruits, completely ready to tell her a story full of lies, I'm all set to meet her but is the time right? Am I interrupting her? Again, why did I came here? Why did I ask Parker to give me her address? I should have called her before coming. What am I supposed to ask her? Why am I sweating?
Why is this tough, dammit!!
My mobile rang. It was from Emma. I took a deep breath and tapped the green button.
"Hello", I said.
"Ivan, where are you?", Emma asked. She sounded serious.
"At a friend's place", I lied looking at the closed door. I asked, "What happened?".
"Well, it's late. I thought you might have got yourself into trouble. So, I checked on you", she said and I rolled my eyes.
"I've stopped fighting since past so many months", I said.
"But you've been at home on time too. Today, you're not. One cannot predict you", she said and I rolled my eyes.
"I'll be late. You sleep. Bye", I said and hung up.
You can do it, I gave myself a mental push.
I rang the doorbell and knocked on it three times. I waited and after ten seconds, the door was half opened supported by the chain lock. Hazel came in my sight.
"You", she said as she opened the whole door giving me a proper look of her eyes and face of course. She had her mobile over her ear. Must be calling someone.
"What are you doing here?", She asked.
"Uh, Emma sends fruits for you", I said showing her the basket, I brought for her.
"Really?", She asked and I nodded.
There's a most important thing one must learn while lying. Make eye contact. I, Ivan Green can lie by looking at a person's eyes. That's a real talent.
"Emma, did you send fruits to my place?", Hazel said by placing her mobile in front of me and putting the speaker on. My eyes widened. I just disconnected the call with Emma and she already dialled Hazel's number. How impatient is my sister actually?
Well, no matter how good you lie. Some things are just out of pure luck and today, I might have bad luck. My lie was going to be revealed. Tell me, I'm screwed.
"No. I didn't. Why? Is someone there taking my name?", Emma asked and Hazel looked at me. I smiled sheepishly at her and she shook her head.
"Yes. A courier boy. He got wrong address", Hazel said saving me and I mouthed her Thankyou.
This is embarrassing!!
She steps aside making me room to enter inside. I walked in and took off the shoes at the entrance. I looked all around myself. She had arranged her house very beautifully. It was a small yet cute and cozy. There was a small main hall with just a couch and a few chairs. The kitchen was attached to the main hall.
