"...I didn't do anything," Mickey whispered. Bendy smiled and let the soul disappear.

"Well, whatever you did... It helped. And... It didn't hurt. I guess we can see if anything else changed with yours, right?"

Mickey nodded but looked worried. "And are you sure we won't just... Fuse?"

"Nope."

"Figures."

Bendy looked... Sad. And yet he smiled through it.

"Do you forgive me?"

Mickey didn't respond for a minute. "We'll see."

Bendy felt the thud of his heart, and he nodded. "O-of course, Mick. But if you want this to be... Better... Just tell me, and then we'll fix this. I'll fix this, okay?"

Mickey felt distant. He summoned his soul, noticing the gold swirls inside.

Bendy frowned. The look was surreal. "M-Mick... Y-Your soul..."

"Is it bad?"

Bendy placed his hand hovering above the soul. His soul flared up.

"I think... Something is wrong... But I c-can't pinpoint it..."

"Bendy, you're hurting!"

Bendy was indeed. An angry gold tear slipped past his cheek. The demon snapped, his hand jerking away. "That... That hurt..." He admitted. "But I'll try again."

"If it hurts, why not stop?" Mickey said softly.

"Because! I swore I would help you, so let me help you!"

Bendy's face was flustered grey. He placed his hand on top of the soul, and Mickey watched intently.

The demon's veins around him looked like gold strings as they softly touched the soul. Mickey shivered, and Bendy stopped.

"... Why did you stop?"

Bendy's face was grim. "I need you to be sleeping first. But I don't want you to fall unconscious again. That would mean we'd both be under." His expression made it look as if Bendy didn't want the mouse to hurt.

"Oh. Well, I can sleep! It just might take a while."

"Yeah. And I doubt they would let me give you a sleeping drought, or whatever you toons have nowadays."

"...We're not magic..."

"Well all of yins sure act like it." His expression softened. "I didn't-"

"It's okay," Mickey muttered quickly.

Bendy shrugged.

"Try and sleep."

Mickey rest his head down. "You don't have to stay with me."

Bendy's voice was dead. "I know."

Mickey tried to sleep, but it didn't seem to want to come.

Suddenly, the door was opened and Mickey jerked aware.

Oswald stood there, and sudden joy spread upon his face, mixed with relief.

"Yes! You're awake!" He laughed. He sprung over, not paying any attention to Bendy.

And Bendy understood.

He wouldn't be wanted when everyone was here.

But that was fine...

"I'm gonna go," he murmured, as Oswald pestered Mickey with 'Worried us, worried that,"

And so he just walked out into the courtyard, past the mouse's friends that stormed in once he left.

____
Bendy sat down on the grass and sighed.

No one cared he'd left.

He felt just as alone here as he'd been in the studio.

He dozed off, with regret and misery erupting inside his thoughts...
