Bendy stayed in the courtyard for what seemed like hours. No one came by to ask how he was doing, and he knew the other toons were relieved that he was gone. They wanted time to themselves with Mickey, and it wasn't because they were selfish.
Bendy sighed, and let his mind wander.
"Where is everyone?" Bendy whispered as he droned off into sleep. Where was Boris? Or Alice? Where could they had gone on that seemingly special day...?
Bendy jerked awake at the sound of someone sitting next to him.
"Bendy?"
The demon's eyes opened as he stared into the eyes of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
"Oswald..." he smiled faintly. "I-it's just you..."
"Well, who else would it be?"
Bendy scoffed, a tiny bit hurt. The rabbit thought back on what he said and he cursed himself. "Darn, I didn't want you to take that the wrong way!"
Bendy smiled thinly. "That's alright."
Oswald cocked his head. "The doctor wants to check up on you."
Bendy shuddered. "I don't like people touching me. You should know by now that my soul doesn't," he chuckled darkly. "It's not like he can do anything, anyways. So, this begs the question: Why bother?"
Oswald gasped. "You can't actually think like that!"
"He already said he couldn't do anything!" Bendy snapped. He stood up. "Things were great back at my home before that mouse took me to this hell hole!"
Bendy's eyes squeezed shut. When he opened them they showed gold pinpricks. Tiny drops of ink ran down his face.
Oswald knew better than to ask what was wrong. But he wanted so badly to convince this demon that the doctor could help. "He won't do anything painful. He could even give you medicine to stop your pains-"
Bendy turned, face one of anger. "My pain cannot be stopped. It's in here," he pointed to his heart. "If you think for even one second that I can fix all of my problems then boy are you wrong! I don't know what to do, everyone hates me and Mickey feels pity and that's all!"
Oswald placed a hand gingerly on his shoulder. "I get it. But how you didn't keep any of this shtick away from them is admirable, even if you don't think so..."
Bendy jerked away. "You dont know me." He noticed other toons were swarming outside. They all carried lunnch bags. He looked back at the rabbit.
Oswald shook his head. "Things are never as bad as they seem, Bendy. Come with me back into the room. We'll properly introduce you to everyone. How does that sound?"
Bendy's hands clenched into fists. "Knowing that they give me looks of disdain," he started. "That they hate me... I can't deal with this, Oswald!" He slowly blinked away tears. "But... If what you said is true... Then maybe I should go and give it a shot..."
Oswald smiled. "That's a much better attitude. Oh, and Bendy?"
"Y-yeah?"
"Call me Ozzie."
He put a hand on the demon's back and let him to the door.
"Thank you... For trusting me..." Bendy whispered.
Ozzie whispered back,
"You're welcome."524 words
