The nurse ran in to see the demon, a wild fluster on his face.

"I..." He spoke. "I'm sorry... I saw him again, but it was only Boris..."

"It's fine, honey," the nurse spoke softly, as if she were talking with a child. "The doctor is going to help you by making something to stop whatever is going on inside your head..."

Bendy spoke quietly. "No... No, I... I need them..."

Mickey listened in, as he had now been given lunch, a sandwich and water to drink.

"No you don't, honey. They aren't real..."

Bendy's shoulders, once stiffened, were now gradually easing. "But... Why do I keep seeing them? If they're in my head... There must be a reason." Bendy whispered, "There's always a reason..."

The nurse pursed her lips as she raised the glass to his lips. Surprisingly, he took it like a champ without complaining, which was definitely improvement and made it much easier for the nurse.

After drinking his water, the demon stayed in bed, and once the nurse left he remained silent.

"Bendy?" Mickey started. The demon had only seemed to ignore him. The mouse climbed out of his bed and stepped closer to the black and white toon.

"Mickey, I keep seeing them," his voice was tiny, and even a little bit scared. "But I don't want it to stop."

"What did Joey do to you...?" the mouse asked. The demon growled.

"He didn't even know I existed! I didn't even live in the human world! It as a mirrored reality after I left the pages in which I was drawn on. And then, when I couldn't contain myself-" he choked. "You... You saw the results." His face flushed a deep dark grey. "My hand. The marks on the wall..."

"How do you do it?"

Bendy sighed. "Sometimes, when I get really anxious, my body will change, and I'll be stuck inside that body's mind until I'm calm enough to change back. I've never changed willingly, and I almost don't remember when I..." He began muttering so low that even Mickey's ears couldn't quite pick up on it. "Hurt... your soul... I nearly changed right then and there."

Mickey remembered that moment quite clearly. When the demon screamed, his eye enveloping in burst of powerful golden light... It was traumatizing for the demon. Bendy was so close, and so anxious- he could've changed easily. He'd already hurt the mouse; he didn't want to do it again.

"Sometimes I think I would be better off alone, back in the studio," Bendy spoke suddenly. Mickey stiffened.

"Why?"

"Because at least there i wouldn't have to watch myself as I change. Sure, I was alone. But thinking back, being with my own thoughts-" he gave a weak smile. "It wasn't so bad." His grin faded. "And these voices; are they even real? Do I really miss them so bad that I fantasize about them by my side?" His shoulders tensed, only to relax into the comfort of the bed. He glanced at Mickey, eyes reproachful. "And I still have to worry about our soul. Only I can fix it, because I am the one who created the bond. You understand! I know you do."

Mickey sat on the bed once more. "I didn't really want to ask you this, but I'm curious."

The demon sat up. "You can ask me anything-"

"Why did you not tell me about your soul?"

The demon placed his head inside his hands, as if he had a headache. "Mickey..."

"You said anything!"

"I know!" Bendy snapped, his left eye flickering yellow. He growled to himself, head darting down. Mickey waited patiently for the demon to calm down. Once he did, Bendy continued, voice soft. "I... I know- I'm sorry I snapped, I just... My soul..." He winced. "I'm corrupting. And-" his voice lowered. "If the doctor finds out... I don't know what he'll do. I'm a little scared, if I'll be honest. " His head snapped to the mouse. "Wait."

The mouse stilled. The demon was staring past his shoulder, face broken, and before he knew it the toon was crying silent tears.

The mouse turned his head, but of course nothing was there. He glanced back at the demon. He had abruptly stopped crying, and his eyes glinted gold. He shook.

And then, he changed
