I just kept staring at Grace like a zombie, yes I was angry but I didn't know how to react. I'm supposed to have no memories of her and Charles must have told her so. But that only intensified the rage I felt inside. Losing one's memory is a difficult thing, having to pretend that it's still lost is worse, exasperating even. Especially if there's a whore you have to pretend you don't remember in front of y...

"Vicky I think she's talking to you"Onyi spoke. She was doing that thing I saw her do, the first day I came  to the office.

I watched Grace's expression as she looked at Onyi, with amusement. She doesn't even have the right to be amused

I leaned closer Onyi and whispered into her ears "please next time you want to remove your panties from your butt, do it in a place that has less people, no people in fact Just you. It isn't a good sight to behold "

Onyi let out low grumbles and igbo curses before walking towards the rest room. How could she even be annoyed? I was saving her from embarrassment.

My hands involuntarily reached out to shake Grace, but she left it hanging and pulled me into a hug.
Hugging must really be a thing for people named Grace.

The smile plastered on my face was so fake, that even a blind man could see so.

"Patty, o tego kwanu, I've missed you soo much. The last time I saw you, you were very immobile. Kept visiting you at the hospital, till Charles said otherwise. It was so cruel what those men did to you"

She does think I'm an idiot, trying to cozen me into believing that I was attacked by robbers.

"Why did Charles stop you from visiting? Ummm so sorry I don't remember your name "

She smiled and said "Grace, we were so close before the accident, I've missed you and Christy and Charles too, my daughter misses her as well. "

"You have a daughter too? What's her name? "I enquired

"She's only two years older than Christy, Amara is just like her father in so many ways"

"It's good to see you again Patty, have you heard from Esther and Chinasa? "
I knew deep down that there was no concern in her question, she was probably trying to find out if they had reached out to me.

" I have no idea, who they are. You seemed quite close to my husband earlier, I'm just so surprised that he hasn't mentioned you or the women you mentioned now."

"Maybe, you should ask your husband why he kept your friends at bay. We all reached out, we were all sad and we felt guil.., I mean powerless you know. Watching your friend lay like a sack of vegetables without knowing how to help "

"That must have been very painful for you, you know what. I think you should swing by one of these days. If we were really friends maybe I could get to know you again. Charles was obeying the doctor's instructions but I think I'm healthy enough to find out more about you, dear friend "

"Thank you Patty, I would be delighted, kee kwanu maka Christian?  How is he?  It was so sweet, how everyone thought I would have ended up with him"

Revelations keep popping up tonight, atleast now I know the last woman. I was about to give her a reply before I was interrupted by someone.

I brought out my hands to shake him, but he threw his hands around me. The hug lasted more than the one with Grace and I was beyond shocked.

"How are you doing tonight, my daughter sends her regards. The information you have been providing me with has been very helpful. "Jude began

There was something strange about the gesture and I could see a forced smile on Grace's face. One would mistake her face as that of a constipated goat.

"I am glad I helped out" I watched how the two of them pretended not to notice each other and I had to do the introduction.

"Jude, this is my friend Grace, Grace this is Jude, he's my boss"

They looked at each other briefly and shook hands, before they turned to face me immediately.

"You look very beautiful tonight, Victoria. I can't wait for the announcement, I'm so glad you came back to work for us"Jude continued, ignoring Grace.

"God knew you needed a second chance at this business "I replied with a nervous smile. I felt the environment was too tensed

Jude wanted to say something but halted and fixed his gaze on someone. I felt arms around my waist and I turned around to face who it was.

I watched as Jude's expression changed, i could feel the anger with the way he was staring at Charles.

Charles on the other hand focused his gaze on me, where as Grace couldn't tear her eyes off Charles.

The air suddenly became to thin for me and the place became too hot.

"So uh, this is my husband Charles,
Babe that's my boss Jude. You've already met Grace haven't you? "

The two men sluggishly brought their hands and shook each other while I prayed that their hands didn't get fractured from the tight grip.

"My wife has told me so much about you Jude, thank you for taking care of her"

"She deserves all the care in the world, She's a good person and a wonderful friend. But I think you already know that don't you? " Jude replied

Grace just stood there mute and I didn't even know what to say. Whatever I had to tell Charles, would have to wait till we got home.

Grace excused herself and walked away, Jude followed suit and I was left with Charles.

"You have a lot of explaining to do Charles, a lot. "

He walked away, apparently he wanted a drink and I was left alone,  Till onyi appeared.

"You are wicked, you are an akpi! Why didn't you tell me that the lady that greeted you is the Grace that I've been talking about, do you think she heard me? "

"I dont know o, why are you worried. You only spoke the truth didn't you? "

The rest of the night went well and I was called up to render a vote of thanks, which I did. I had provided them with a market strategy and they were satisfied with it.

When the event was over, we said our goodbyes and Onyi decided to leave with a co-worker going her direction.

Jude gave me a hug, which didn't amuse my husband in anyway. He whispered something in my ear which got me concerned.

"Victoria, I'll tell you the truth tomorrow, everything. Just be careful from now on. I don't think you're safe"

Christy was awake when we got home, but Christian wasn't. I chose to sleep in christy's room but I didn't get much sleep.

"What would he reveal to me tomorrow, why should I be careful? "Kept ringing in my head.

When I finally slept, I dreamt of the accident again.

"You don't deserve him Victoria!!, you don't!! " she yelled

I jerked up and went to our room, but when I got there Charles wasn't there and he wasn't in the bathroom either.

I searched the whole house and even woke Christian up but we couldn't find him.

Christian discovered that the front door was open and my heart went into space.

"Charles left the house, he was sleep walking again "
