Chapter Twenty Three: Twist

Mrs Victoria I need to see you in my office right now" Jude commanded

He barely even let me respond before he turned away. So much for letting me be.

Onyi broke away from the hug and gave me a look. "Gịnị me ziri? (what happened?" He sounded quite angry Vicky.

"I have no idea, I guess I have to find out then. Why don't you eat this abach a I brought while I go find out why our boss is in a foul mood"

I stood up and adjusted my shirt, which had been pushed to the side while I was embracing onyi.
She smiled at me before I walked away.

On reaching Jude's office I noticed my heartbeat become rapid, my hands were shaking as I raised them to knock on the door. I took in deep breaths and before knocking twice.

Jude's voice ushered me in before I found the courage to step in.
Nothing was new about his office, except his attitude towards me and probably the air which felt thinner and thinner.

Have a seat Victoria" he commanded while straightening out a piece of paper he had in his hand.

I sat down and waited for him to explain why I was summoned.

"I must say that lately things between us have become rough, not that I meant to ruin anything. But I guess I let Jealousy and rage come over me."

I looked up at him and kept quiet, he dropped the piece of paper on the table and stood up.

"For years that I had been married to my wife I never truly noticed how evil she was, I adored her so much. Then she gave me a beautiful daughter. My family was perfect till we moved to this place."

My nerves started to relax and my heart rate slowly returned to normal

Work brought me here, I didn't want to be separated from my family so I brought them here. Everything was perfect till the day we bumped into you and Charles. We became closer, our families. Sometimes we came over to your place and had a good time. My wife's friends were my friends too.

He left his current position and walked towards me.

You and my wife had history, reconnecting with her made me happy, my wife would wouldn't feel so bad about leaving. She had a friend here and you were pregnant then.

I never saw any dent in my wife and you and Charles had become my family too.

But I was a big fool Victoria.
I could remember the times you would tell me that you suspected Charles. I even called you a clingy wife behind your back. He laughed at that

My eyes were opened the day I missed an appointment and decided to come home. My daughter was 15 then and she had gone to see her friend. She decided she was sleeping over and Noone expected me to come home till the next day.

I remember being so tired, but despite that I decided against sleeping in a hotel. I got back home by 12am and when I walked into the bedroom.
I saw your husband having sex with my wife.

They didn't notice me at all and I was puzzled, enraged, sad and heartbroken at once. I decide to smash Charles' car out of anger but when I went out to check well I didn't see his car.

I contemplated strangling both of them or worse shooting Charles but I couldn't. So I left the house.

For days I watched my wife pretend around me, I became irritated by her mere presence. So I decided to make the both pay. I started making advances at you, but it was pointless. You loved your husband too damn much besides you probably saw me as a brother.

I was consumed by bitterness and hatred for Charles and I wanted to make him pay. But then I discovered that it was my wife who had been making all the moves. I began to keep tabs on her while she kept on with her stupid affair.

I found out the bitter truth when I finally confronted her. She told me that I was her rebound. That she has always loved Charles.

Grace has always been obsessed with Charles.
I've tried so hard to move on.

I know you can't remember me or any of these things. But you have to believe me when I say that your life is in danger.

I'm sorry for lying about us having an affair, it was my way of venting and you didn't deserve that.

The board decided to send you to Enugu to help fix up the company there and I was the one who initiated the idea.

I want to help you figure out what really happened to you, because I don't believe you had an accident.

Take the offer, let us put this second chance to good use.

To be honest It sounds strange that you went on a trip with your girlfriends and came back in a coma while my dear wife was more than excited.

Victoria believe me, I am not the bad person here. I'm going to open your eyes to the things you should know.

I won't rest, till you see your husband for who he really is.

My lips didn't move while he spoke and after he finished they didn't move either.
I only took the letter and walked out of his office.

Jude could not be trusted, for one I couldn't remember him at all. Maybe he only wanted to ruin my second chance at a happy life.

To leave my husband and my daughter for a job was just impossible no matter the pay.

My heart was thrown into chaos, Grace, Charles, Jude.

When I got to my office I noticed that I was dizzy, I tried moving to my seat but my visions were blurred. The world began to spin till I could no longer see anything else.

Just a voice yelling

Victoria! Victoria!
