Grace Maduka had left her ally to watch over Victoria while she found a way to get Jude into town. Her instructions were for her to get Victoria conscious then get her food after she must have been cleaned up.
Grace had obliged her request and fetched Vicky clothes even wiped the disgusting blood off her body. She locked her into the house and went into town to get food for not just Vicky but also to sate her famished self.

While she drove into town she kept thinking of how she was the one always doing the dirty job. Grace was always telling her what to do and what not to do while she was the one who even got them to where they were. She did all the hard work, kidnapped Victoria even found the best place to keep her before Jude comes to get her.

How come she was only getting a night of passion with Charles, it seemed too poor for what she had invested. Grace might even get rid of her before she gets her night of passion. Oh how she wanted more, how marvelous it would feel to become Charles'. How it would feel if just one of her dreams came true.

Having a father who walked out on her at a tender age because of his illegitimate children ruined her trust in men. She always wished, prayed that he had taken her with him, sometimes she dreamed of him walking back into her life then making their family how it was before. Her mother had taken to drinking and when she had a little too much, she was the one who bore the bruises and marks of her rage and hatred towards her ex husband.

When she finally gained admission into the university she vowed that she would become tough just like life had prepared for her. She was just following the path she was supposed to have treaded even before her bad fate drove her into it. She was to study, live and hate men. She managed to involve in a few sexual saga just to entertain herself but she never felt any ounce of emotion for any of the men involved.

Then one day an angel came into his life. Not just did he bare a striking semblance to her father, he treated her well and never demanded for anything in return. She had fallen for him from the day she met him, did everything to please him and when the time was right she confessed her feelings for Charles. Charles was in love with her too, she was sure of that. He showed in the way he treated her, he just didn't say it out loud. Everything was fine, her dreams were about to come true, just before someone stole him from her. Just like her father was stolen from her.

Funny Charles was with her the day her father was laid to rest. He was her shoulder to cry on. Grace's hand stiffened on the steering wheel and her blood boiled.

Why was it that life was just in the way of her happiness?
First it was that silly maggot Esther threatening her to stay away from Charles because of her own selfish reasons. She learnt that she had to fight for her happiness and she did so by trying to get rid of the threat. How disappointed she had been when the amateur addict of a hitman she hired shot Victoria instead of Esther . But then she did not care if Vicky lived or died, Vicky dying would liberate Charles.

Now she was still doing more for little. There was no way she was going to share Charles with that Ingrate.

When she got to the nearest restaurant she stepped out of the vehicle and headed straight to make an order.

She had barely finished with her orders when she saw him. Her angel, she froze for an instant and blinked just to be sure. Charles had begun to treat her poorly because of Vicky and she was mad at him but the love she had for him was stronger than a magnet. It pulled her to where he sat probably waiting for someone then she walked straight to him, ignoring the irritated waiter asking for payment. She didn't care if her tummy growled and grumbled, Charles was the satisfaction she craved.

She had almost made it to where he sat till a voice startled her. A voice she knew too well and loathed. Charles turned to see her standing and called out to her, but as soon as she saw Esther she took her leave.

Marveled at the looks the women exchanged and the strange way Grace had run off, he followed Grace outside. Charles knew Grace was a good person but her desires with him clouded her judgment.

He caught up with Grace and when he made an attempt to speak, she walked away from him.

Grace knew Charles to have certain flaws but seeing him meet with that she devil who had threatened to ruin her life because of a kiss she gave Charles made her very mad.

She did not want to see them she just wanted to get over with her plans and get Charles into her bed and her life, even if he constantly proved that he wasn't worth it.

Charles stood dismayed as Grace started her car, whatever had gotten into Grace this time?.

He had almost made a turn to walk back into the restaurant when his eyes struck her license plate." Lagos center of excellence" was boldly written on the license plate. He never knew her car was registered in Lagos just like Vicky's. Charles walked into the restaurant with an uneasy mind, something seemed to having been racing on his mind.
The numbers in his mind seemed to be replaying over and over again. Vicky's absence was slowly turning him into a lunatic he thought.

Then when he sat down Esther threw a glance at him.

"I just bumped into her here, we didn't even talk"

Esther nodded before speaking
"I hope for Vicky's sake you're saying the truth"

The mention of Vicky's name drove his mind faraway again. The numbers kept on hammering in his already restless mind.

"Charles! Charles!"

He blinked his eyes after he realized that he had zoned out on Esther. Charles apologized and drew out his phone to play the game his daughter had installed for him on his phone. Because his daughter had told him games help people to concentrate. Immediately he tapped his screen he realized that he hadn't cleared most of the apps he used. Funny Vicky would always tell him" minimize and clear once you're done with an app, it saves the memory.

Esther noticed his weird attitude and went to place an order. He had almost swiped away his whatsapp messenger before he decided to tap on the app, to see if his daughter left him messages. He opened the app and saw the plate numbers the incompetent man had sent him earlier. Then he realized that "center of excellence" was boldly written on the vehicle's license plate. The numbers were just similar to what he had seen earlier today.

He jerked up from his seat and rushed to where Esther was.

"She did it!"

Esther couldn't quite understand what he meant. Then he took a deep breath and spoke again.

Grace has my wife! "
