Charles walked into the hospital distraught and confused. He could not tell Vicky's mother that something had happened to her daughter or Christy that her mother was missing. He had to tell someone at least and Christian wasn't at the hospital yet.
He paced around the reception ward where everyone was waiting.

"nna kee kwanu? What is wrong? Are you okay?" Vicky's mom questioned
That was when Charles realized that he had to pretend to be fine before he aroused any form of suspicion.

"I should have told Victoria when I found out, but I just couldn't. I wonder how she's taking all this" Vicky's mother continued

Charles walked to the old woman and held her close to his chest. The woman was dealing with so many things at the same time.

Charles told them he was going to get Victoria before he walked out of the room. "Tell Christian to call me as soon as he gets here"

This time he wasn't going to let anything bad happen to his wife. He prayed in his heart that it wouldn't be too late.

Charles picked up his phone and dialed the detective's number. He remembered how the inspector general had refused to show him who would be protecting his wife like a shadow, the man who he was told to save as Mr A.

" if all you've said is true and what those women said is also true, then it means that there's a third party and that is the person who wants your wife dead. Mr Charles all we have to do is get your wife to remember then we can ask her who shot her. But for the mean time I'll place one of my men to watch her and hope that whoever wanted her dead before will come back to finish the job "he paused" and fail of course"

Upon remembering those words Charles was enraged. Who could be so incompetent in doing his job that he let someone slip away with his pregnant wife.

Immediately he heard the man's voice over the phone, Charles began to yell.

"Mr A or whoever the hell you are, you were supposed to be protecting my wife! How could you let such a thing happen! Vicky has been kidnapped!"Charles was so enraged that tears began to form in his eyes

The man finally spoke after he listened to Charles.

" Mr Chinedu I sincerely apologize for the lapse on my side, but seeing your wife walk into the hospital I felt she would have stayed in there for long. We've managed to get a clear image of the vehicle and it's plate number, right now we're tracking the vehicle. Though we could not see clearly who it was in the vehicle, we suspect it is a woman. The body structure depicts so but we could be mistaken. I am doing everything in my power to get your wife safe. Please if there's any information you could help us with to make this search easier, do help us with it. I'll send across the plate number to you while we still run the number at the FRSC headquarters for identification. Mr Chinedu the police have enforced check points at the critical points. We are really working hard to get Mrs Victoria back. "

All those words didn't give Charles any assurance but he agreed to have a look at the plate numbers the man provided. It was not like he memorized other people's plate numbers, how was he supposed to know who the car belonged to. Now there was a female who's car plate number he was supposed to remember. Which woman would even know where to find Vicky at this point?

Then something struck him, whoever took Vicky must have been a close enemy because only few people knew of her father's health condition. He was at his house with Vicky when he got the call which rules him out together with his wife and daughter. Christian was not anywhere close to them, leaving his new sister in laws to question. The mistake must have come from either Nasa or Esther.

Charles texted the two ladies and waited for their arrival, praying that his wife would still be breathing when he does find her. He knew time might not be on his side.

As Vicky regained consciousness her head began to pound, her mouth felt dry and she wanted to drink water badly. She tried moving her legs this time and they obeyed her will. She noticed that her attire had changed as she felt her legs. Someone must have replaced her shirt and trousers with a dress. She no longer reeked of blood but there was still pain in her abdomen. Her constant prayer was that her baby stayed in her belly no matter what.

The room was once dark again and the women she heard earlier were no where to be found.

She shifted from her current position with so much struggle and whimpered when the pain in her belly shot up. Vicky managed to steady herself, then she groped and felt around in the darkness till she found the door. Unfortunately for her the door was locked from the outside. She tried pushing the door but it only made matters worse. Blood began to seep out again and dizziness sought her.

If only she had her phone with her, she'd call someone for help. Sobs left her mouth and her hands grew weak.
She made a small prayer before the darkness engulfed her once again.

Meanwhile Jude could not board the plane because of a storm that was brewing. All flights had been canceled and all he saw was people keeping him from Victoria. Deep in his heart he knew that what he was doing was wrong and he couldn't tell the police about Grace's evil agenda so that they don't lock her up for the sake of their daughter. But his desire for Victoria superseded all reasons.

He had tried to save Victoria once by offering her a job faraway from Charles so that he would make her fall for him. She bluntly refused his offer and now his ex wife got to Vicky first. Jude had been suspecting his exwife and the strange woman she was always meeting with.

The first day Vicky came to his office, he had fought with his ex-wife about letting Vicky work with him after she found out from her lunatic new friend that she was starting work soon.He smiled as he remembered how Victoria had stooped to pick the pencils Grace threw on the floor out of rage. It didn't take time before he put the dots together and realized that the lady in question had an affiliation with Charles. It was Charles who should be paying for his sins not Vicky but life isn't always that fair.

He called Grace and told her of the delay but she went berserk. He needed to get to Enugu and fast. If the planes won't work, then he'd have to drive himself to that place no matter how many hours it took. His love was on the line and this time Vicky would be leaving with him.
