Chapter six: Close strangers

Mother and Christian were finally settled in and Charles was still out.
I walked into christy's room only to see her sniffing into her pillow. She must have been crying, my poor baby!

She didn't notice me come, so I walked closer and sat on her bed. She finally noticed my presence and sat upright.

I didn't speak and in as much as I was amused by the situation I wanted her to feel remorseful, after all as parents we need some ground rules to stay grounded.

Mom are you mad? " she finally managed to speak

I was drawn to the conversation and I only laughed. Brother was too protective of his daughter but even he can't change the inevitable.

Mom withdrew and went to bed before Christian joined her.

I wanted to ask Charles about Aaron's mother but I couldn't get myself to. I lay in bed wrapped in charles' arms and it didn't take long before I slept.

I watched them shut their eyes and then the gun went off.

I jerked up from bed with beads of sweat on my face.

Christy was right after all, I was close with Esther, but what had she done to me that drove me to pull that trigger?
