Kabanata 2

Sabi nila ang mga alikabok daw ay ang maliliit na mga bulalakaw. Mga dumi galing sa bituin, the stardust.

They said, we came from the giant star in the universe that exploded a million of years ago. They said we all came from the star, ang iba naging tao pero ang iba ay naging alikabok nalang, naging dumi, hindi napapansin.

"S-Sir?" Nag-aalangan ko pang tawag sa kanya. "Are you alright?"

He nodded, I saw him slowly pulling away from me as he dried his tears. Kitang-kita ko ang panghihina sa mata n'ya roon.

"Y-Yes...I'm sorry, it's just that..." He stopped and stared at me again. "Nothing, I'm sorry."

"Okay," Naguguluhang sabi ko. I don't know why but I can feel my heart aching with that sight of him.

He looks so fragile. He looks so lost and lonely, bakas ko ang takot sa mga berde n'yang mata na kahit ako ay hindi maipaliwanag ang sakit na nararamdaman.

"Water?" I asked. He didn't answer but I oblige. Mabilis akong kumuha ng tubig at pagbalik ko ay tulala lang s'ya roon at mabilis na nag-angat ng tingin nang bumalik ako.

"Y-You're back," He murmured.

I smiled a little and hand him the water.

"Of course, Sir. You're my patient so I can't abandon you here." I chuckled a little. I saw him stare at me without even blinking.

"Kasi diba, Sir. One of the responsibilities the nurses has to do is about not leaving their patient behind, mostly if they're too vulnerable. We made a pact to never abandon them in their worst times." Marahang sabi ko.

He nodded, nakita kong humugot s'ya ng hininga at sumisim ng tubig, tila nahihiya na kung ano.

"The reason maybe why I am not a nurse," Biglang nasabi n'ya. I was curious, nilingon ko s'ya at nakita kong magulo ang buhok n'ya habang nakatulala sa basong hawak.

"Why? Have you ever abandoned someone in their worst times?" I asked him jokingly but what shocked me is when he nodded a little, avoiding my gaze, slowly showing his bitter smile.

"I...did," I saw him gulped. "That's my biggest mistake."

I sighed, hindi ko alam pero sobra ang pagbigat ng puso ko sa sinabi n'ya at humila ako ng upuan at naupo sa may harapan n'ya.

"You must have a reason," I encourage him. "Don't be sad, Sir, maiintindihan ka naman siguro n'ya." I told him.

I saw how his eyes reddened again, magpapanic nanaman sana ako dahil mukhang paiyak nanaman s'ya pero ipinaling n'ya ang ulo at sinapo ang mukha.

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry... I'm just too fucking emotional right now." He hissed.

I smiled softly and stood, marahang hinaplos ko ang likod n'ya at pinakalma s'ya.

"It's alright, Sir. Everything will be fine." I told him. "I can feel that you're gonna be alright, I can feel it. I know you're a good person."

He shifted his gaze at me, nakita kong namungay ang mata n'ya roon.

"You think so?" Halos pabulong na n'yang tanong.

"Yes, I can feel it in my heart." I pointed my chest and spoke. "Parang kilala na kita, ewan, weird but I feel good right now with you."
