Scrapped Ideas
Ideas I had for this story that never came to be.

Three Way Story
My original idea was for this story to be split into three parts, about 20 parts long. However, I couldn't squeeze out more than 20, so it ended up being only one story. First would be called 'The Chase,' where Stinger is pursued by Tartar, and is also trying to find his origins. Second would be 'The Gauntlet,' when Stinger is imprisoned and forced to fight a new mutation every day in a gauntlet. Third would be 'The Truth,' where Stinger finally gets his memories back.

Dolpheenic Tribe
I've always liked dolphins, and I wanted them to play a part in the story. My train of thought was, there are squids, octopi, jellyfish; why not dolphins? Sadly, that never worked out.

Cole
At the beginning of the story, I mentioned that Arty had a brother named Cole. I originally put him in the story so he could play a bigger part in the story later on, but I kind of forgot about him. When I remembered, I was at Chapter 18 or something, too late to add him in.

Origins
These are how I came to create the characters in this story.

Stinger's Origin
Stinger was actually what I used to look like in Splatoon 2. My name in those days was SkyStinger, so I figured he could be me. Today, I look nothing like that, but hey, we all change.

Arty didn't really have an origin, so no story here.

Telk's Origin
Telk was... interesting. His first name came from the Greek creature telkhine, which worked in forged below the sea, and his last name was a reference to Percy Jackson. He was actually not thought out; I just put him in the story on the spot.

Avia's Origin
So the day Avia was introduced was the day I beat the main storyline of Octo Expansion. I had named my Agent Eight Avia, because I liked what Viantastic did with Bridgett. (If you don't know Vian, I highly suggest you check out his channel. He uploads at least once a week, and creates really cool music montages. He also hit 100,000 followers last month.) So I decided to add her into the story.

Cepholo's Origin
At the time, I had learned what a masochist was, and I was both afraid and intrigued at the concept of inflicting pain to numb other pain (I know that sounds really sadistic, but I'm still on the side of sanity for now). Depression is also something I fear and embrace, and since I know these two usually connect, I decided to create a character that would represent these. That's another reason Cepholo sacrificed himself; he was tired of life. I'm going to end this segment with a question: If we go to a better place after death, what's the purpose of life?

Mauritius' Origin
Mauritius was voomy1 's OC, so I decided to give her a nod here.

And now for the last question: Why did I write such a cringey story?
Okay, to be blunt, I knew this was going to be cringey, but I didn't care. I wanted to give back to the community of Splatoon 2, gaming, and just Wattpad in general. And what better way than to create a story?

Also, in the future, I may create a rewrite of this story, with more heart, less cringe, and less plot holes. So stay tuned I guess.
