Smile {Shoto Todoroki x Reader }

Chapter Ten

~ Y/N P.O.V ~

"As long as you don't leave the course, you're free to do whatever your heart desires. BEGIN!" Miss Midnight announced. With that the hoard of student were crushing their way through the entry way to start their race. I stood from behind and watched for a second, this must be apart of the obstacles, there's no way we can all fit trough there. Then it hit me, we must use our quirks to do get through this. I smile and start to run towards the crowd and flatten my hands out and do what Bakugou does best, use his quirk to fly above the rest.

I got in front of most people but Icyhot and Flame-brain got the same idea as me. I look back and the majority of the Class 1-A students used their quirks to avoid Todoroki's ice maneuver. We kept running ahead but then we all stopped in front of some giant metal robots. "Those are the robots from the entrance exam!" Deku said just loud enough so that I could hear it. "These are you guys had to face to get into UA? Seems easy enough..." I say with a smile clenching my fists. I was about to jump to land a hit on the one in front of us when it completely turned into ice.

I turned my head over towards Todoroki who had the same look on his face like always, and he turned to keep going on the race. I take some steps forward to continue when I heard my name being screamed by Ochako and Deku. I look behind me at them, only to see Kirishima jumping towards me, and a long shadow being cast over us. Before my mind could process what to do next, I felt massive body weight on me, it felt like I was being crushed. It fell over, shit am I stuck under here? I think to myself, I could hear faint yelling of my name, my friend's concerned voices.

No later than a few moments I felt my body being pulled up, an arm around my waist. Kirishima emerged from the robot's metal body with his own hardened carrying me. "I'm alive! And I got Y/N!" Kirishima yelled out to everyone. Kirishima, saved me during a competition? Wow, he'll be a great hero to the people one day. I look at him and smile, "Thank you, Kirishima. You saved risked you're your spot in the tournament to save me." He nodded and helped me down, and I look ahead. There was Todoroki standing there, with a different look on his face, this look was unease.

I started to run towards his direction, trying to get ahead of the others. What was that look on his face? I couldn't get that look of his out of my mind. Soon we all arrived at some canyon type of obstacle. I watched as Todoroki used his quirk to glide gracefully on one of the ropes. Iida did the same with his engine quirk. I bit my lip taking some steps backward. Breath Y/N, breath. I take a few running steps and jump into the air.

Over the announcement I hear, "What does Y/N think she is doing?! Jumping into the abyss canyon!" I smiled and used the quirk I copied to well fly through the air, not even touching the ropes or ground until I got safely to the other side. I look back and watch the rest of the first years somewhat struggle with their crossing. Many of them began to grow close to me so this is when I decided to give it my all and keep going. At this point, I'm in third place, I can't lose this lead against the others.

"And now we're finally approaching the last obstacle. Everyone had better tread carefully...you're stepping onto a minefield!" Present Mic announced with a bit of tune to it. I watched as Todoroki carefully made his way through and Bakugou pushes his way through with his quirk. I can do the same I thought and just as if I had told my body to move, it did. I watched the two boys go at it neck and neck as I approached them. I saw Bakugou make a move to hit Todoroki several times, each time missing.

Finally, as I arrived closer to them, Todorki was unable to dodge a hit and was about to land on one of those mines. You shouldn't help him, this would mean you'll be in second and have a better chance of actually winning this damn tournament, I think, but he's special to you, a hero never leaves someone behind. With that last thought in my head, I reached my hand out to grab Todoroki's, pulling him away from one of the mines and putting myself in his place.

I smile as he watched the mine I was on erupt, I jumped into the air with the blast, creating my own with the borrowed quirk. Just as I thought we were all alright, Deku comes flying by on a piece of metal from the first obstacle. That's a strategic way of thinking Deku, good for you. As soon as the race began, we all filed in one right after another into the ending arena. The crowd was cheering and chanting our names. Deku crossed first, followed by Todoroki in second, Bakugou in third and I came in fourth followed by the rest of the first years. I smiled and ran over to Deku giving him a hug, "You did it Deku, why are you crying??"

A Quick Note

Hello, my lovelies! So, I wanted to give you a heads up, Y/N or your character will be taking the spot of Ibara Shiozaki during the games. I am going to tweak the original bracket for this part of the story like I will be throughout the remainder of the action sequences. For instance, I have plans to change future plot points including the Hero Killer Arc, Training Camp Arc and much more. This is solely based on the anime because I am far too lazy to read the manga. I hope you guys enjoy reading the story as much as I am writing it. Happy Reading~

So I sprained my ankle in my gym class this week and I haven't been able to do much. I just got back into walking around with a boot and no crutches. Lucky for me February break is up next week so I will be able to write a whole bunch of chapters and maybe I'll update twice having it be a break from school!
