"Are you nervous, sweetheart" my mom asked me as we drove in the car to my new school.
I shook my head, "Not really, I'm more excited then anything, and I'm sure Danger is ready to get out of the trailer."
My parents both laughed, "I'm sure he is, I'm ready to get out for sure" my dad replied
About 30 minutes later we drove past a wood sign that read, 'River Ridge Riding Academy' and soon pulled up next to the Student Center. I jumped out of the car and jogged to the trailer and unlatched the latch.
Danger stomped his foot when he herd the door opening. "I know boy, I'm coming" I said as I walked to the front of the trailer to untie his halter. My mom then took Danger's lead rope from me as my dad an I walked up to the Student Center.
We walked in and I saw a lady with light brown hair and glasses sitting at the front desk. She looked up and smiled kindly at me then said, "Hello there! Are you here to check in?" I nodded and walked up to the desk.
"Alright, so I need your last, then first name to get your schedules and door number."
"Blackwell, Annabelle" I responded. She then typed that into her computer and went to get some papers off the printer.
"Here is your school schedule" she said handing me one of the pages. "The first four are for Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's then the bottom four are for Tuesday's and Thursday's." I looked over the paper as she handed me the other one. "and this is your riding schedule, it has the day next to the class, then Thursday's are for team meetings but you wont have those until about the second week of school"
"Thank you" I smiled. "So for teams, do they have a tryout?"
"Not technically," the lady replied "the 'tryout' is during your lesson, the trainers will talk to each other about who should be on what team based on how they do at lessons." I nodded again. "Now go over to that line to get your key card for your house, dorm room and the kitchen in your house. Then go outside to get a picture with your horse for the barn and your tack locker"
"Thank you again" I said then walked over to the photographer and got my photo taken, then was given my ID with my name and room number on it.
My father and I went back outside where I took Danger back and walked to the photographer outside. "Okay, so I want you and your horse to face me" he said. It took a bit of coaxing to get Danger's head facing the camera, but thanks to my mom clicking and saying his name and a few treats, we finally did it.
I was handed the ID and it actually looked really cute. This time it had Danger's name and show name with his stall number.
After putting both IDs in the lanyard that the school gave you if you wanted one, I took Danger and a box of stuff to his stall. I walked in and realized how big it was. The oak barn had 30 stalls altogether, 15 on each side plus two tack rooms across from each other, roughly in the middle.
Danger's stall was the third to last, the stall had a large door that rolled back and was a fairly large stall. It had a hay feeder and an automatic waterer, the door had golden metal plaques, the top reading 'Danger Zone' and the bottom 'Danger'.
After getting him settled, I looked at the stall next to his and it said, 'A Bird's Melody' and 'Melody', the owner of the empty stall should be one of my roommates and then I looked at the two across, my other roommates. The one directly across from Danger's said 'All About That Jazz', 'Jazz'. The stall had a small, dark bay pony that was about 13 hands. The next one, that had a pinto gelding, said 'The Greatest' and 'Aztec'.
Then my parents and I walked to the tack room to put my jumping/cross country saddle and bridal and my dressage saddle and bridal in the locker. I opened the door and it reviled, three saddle and bridal racks, shelves for blankets, halter, and saddle pads. I set my box with pads, blankets, and an extra halter on the floor of the locker and told myself I would organize later.
Finally it was time to go see my dorm and the two girls that were in my dorm that were already here. I walked up the stairs the second floor and walked with my stuff into the room. There were three people in the room, a girl about 4 inches shorter then me with purple hair and black roots, one a little taller then the first with brown hair, and taller woman who I assumed was one of their mom's that had brown hair with a slightly red tint.
"Hello?" I said and the purple haired one turned around.
