Dallas scoffed, showing a lopsided grin thinking its some joke. "Are you kiddin' with me or sum'?""I'm afraid not."
I was standing there, frozed. My heart was beating so loud I'm pretty sure everyone could hear it. I stared at the shiny, silver handcuffs that dangled back and forth from the cops hand as it caught my attention.
"He didn't do anything," I said, my eyes flicking madly between the two cops. "He didn't do nothin."
"That's not what we've been heard. A kid on the other side of town reported for assault. Assault of trespassing, and assault of this lady of yours." The cop spoke in a hoarse voice.
"I never touched her. Never have I once laid a damn finger on her, that kid is a piece of shit, she's not my lady."
I looked over at Dallas with a confused look slapped across my face when he said those four words. I wasn't? Then why did he almost kiss me?
The cop looked over at Darry.
"It would be better for us to take him down to the station to see what's going on about this report. But if you want him to stay, you'll have to show up with him sooner or later when getting a phone call from us, fair enough?"I looked over at Darry as I could see him in the corner of my eyes. I took a glance, coming to a realization he didn't look to happy. Not at me, nor at Dallas.
"Take him." Darry replied. He uncrossed his arms, giving a glaring look at Dallas, and walked out to the back-porch of the house. My mouth dropped opened, I was not expecting Darry to just immediately have a part of our family be taken away. He was probably stressed enough of the amount of bills we get to bail him out.
Before any of us could react, Dallas watched every step Darry took right out the back door. I've never seen Dallas this angry. He was fuming, taking big deep breaths to make him even more tense each second. Dallas went right out the back doors, and slammed it so hard to where the picture of our mom and dad, and the four of us together smashed right on the ground. I stared at it as my heart was broken into so many pieces to where I could burst out crying. The glass scattered everywhere all over the carpet, to where the picture stuck right out of the picture frame all bent and ripped.
Sodapop and Ponyboy glanced at each other and
started picking up the scattered remains of the glass. The cops muttered words to each other and slowly walked through the kitchen to see what exactly Darry and Dallas were doing. I ignored it as I shut my eyes, preventing tears to escape. My lips started to tremble, my hands were shaking, my whole body
was in shock. I felt a random arm wrap around my shoulder, I turned my head and seen Two-bit in the presence as he looked at me with a worried, guilty look. He looked at me as if I knew I needed a hug and a shoulder to cry on."C'mere," he whispered in a soft low tone. he pulled me into a hug as I laid my chin right onto his shoulder, letting out all of my tears. My arms found a way right around his waist as I hugged him tight. I didn't want Dallas to go to jail. Hell, for all the crimes he had committed in this small town of Tulsa, he could be thrown into a jail cell to rot for a very, long time.
Dallas POV.
I didn't care that the fuzz was still standing in the house, my blood was replaced with fire in a second flat. I went outside to see Darry with his back facing me, my fists clenched so hard I could punch the next thing I laid my damn hand on; I was fuming.
"Darry." I say, trying to prevent myself from lungin' across the yard and kicking the shit out of him.
"Dallas," He says back, turning around and glaring at me. "I need a word with you, right now." He said in a monotone voice, taking a step closer. "What in gods name are you doing? You know Dallas, each and every person in this damn town knows damn well you like to fuck with people, including my sister, but her of all girls? you're sick Dallas, absolutely sick. I suggest you to stay the livin' hell away from my sister before you make her scared out of her goddamn mind. She isn't a criminal, she's a young girl who just wants to get a fucking career." He says through gritted teeth. "Without her mom and dad here, she's been crying herself to sleep every damn night. She's been gettin' them nightmares like Ponyboy used to have, and it ain't a good sign."
