The Queen's Knight In Shining Overalls

Chapter 1

"Who the hell is calling me this early?"  Emma groans out as her cell phone rings. She looks at the clock and it reads 6:07am. She grabs the phone and answers it. "This better be good, not even god is awake this early?"  "I'm sorry for calling so early Emma, but I need your help".  "What's going on Marco? Is everything ok?"  She says with a little bit of worry in her voice. Marco as been like a grandfather to Emma. She was always in trouble when she was a teenager. Her parents didn't know what to do with her. One day Emma skipped school and decided to steal a car so her and her girlfriend could go to the beach. They were both arrested and brought into the sheriffs department. While Emma was being interrogated the Sheriff walked in. The deputy told him what was going on. "She was pulled over on route 95 for speeding. When we ran the plates it came back stolen so we took her and her female companion in".  "She my girlfriend numb nuts". The Sheriff gave her a nasty look and Emma shut her mouth. "Thanks deputy I can handle it from here". He walks out and the Sheriff sits and looks at Emma. "Hi dad". She says with a smile. "You really think this is funny Emma?  Your in big trouble this time and I can't help you".  "Can't or won't?"  She says in a bitchy tone. "Even if I could, I don't know if I would. You stole a car Emma. You were caught going over 100 miles an hour. Someone could have gotten killed. The things you are doing are escalating. What's it going to take for you to realize that you can't continue on this path Emma. Your so much better than this".  She shrugs. "There are a lot of charges on you for this one. Grand theft auto, speeding and resisting arrest. Really Emma?"  "Dad I'm sorry that wasn't my fault. The cop was being an asshole to us".   "You'll have to see the judge for this. Hopefully he'll give you a fine and community service". Luckily that's what she got. She had to pay for the speeding ticket which was 315.00 dollars, and do 100 hours of community service, which was working for Marco in his shop. Marco is basically a handyman, but he also does woodworking and repairs furniture. It was supposed to end after 3 months but Emma's been working there for 7 years. Working there changed everything about Emma. It's just something about working with her hands. Repairing something and making it new again. Marco taught her everything he could and Emma soaked it up like a sponge. She is really close with him. So for him to call this early on a Saturday saying he needs help, something must be wrong. "Relax Emma it's not that bad. I threw my back out again, I'm supposed to do some repairs over at Zelena's beauty shop this afternoon but I can't get out of bed. Please go over and help an old man out. It's good overtime".  "Of course I'll help you out. Can I bring you anything Marco?"   "No Emma. Thank you. My son came last night to help. The repair request is on the desk. Please tell Miss Zelena I'm sorry I couldn't make it".  "No problem Marco. I'll take care of everything. I'll try and visit you later, and if you need anything just call me".    "I will emma thank you".  She lays in bed for a little while longer. She's so glad she's not hungover after her and her friends Ruby and Ashley went out drinking last night. She eventually gets out of bed to shower and get ready to go get some breakfast before she goes to work. She walks in Granny's diner and sits at the counter. Ruby isn't looking so good this morning. "Usual Saturday breakfast Ems?"  Emma laughs a bit. "Not today. I need the week day breakfast. I'm filling in for Marco, he hurt his back".   "Poor guy".  "Ya, and poor Ruby it seems".  "Shit Emma. The next time we slam back tequila all night please remind me of this morning". Emma lets out a big laugh because she remembers telling Ruby and Ashley that is was a bad idea from the start. Ruby gave Emma the eye as she turned to take her order to the kitchen. Ruby gave Emma a cup of coffee and went to check on her other tables. Just then a woman sat next to Emma at the counter. Emma didn't notice her till the smell of her perfume invaded her nostrils. The incredible sent of this woman was doing things to Emma she hasn't felt in a long time. She doesn't dare look over at her because that would just make things "hard" for Emma so to speak. Ruby comes over to take the woman's order and the sound of her voice almost makes Emma cum right then. "Hello Miss Lucas I'd like an egg white omelette with feta and spinach please and a slice of wheat toast".  "No problem. Coming right up". From the corner of her eyes Emma watches the woman pour sugar in her coffee and a little cream, then she stirred it. Emma tried not to look, saying she was being creepy but she couldn't help it. The woman taps her spoon on the rim of the cup and places it down on the saucer. She uses her right hand to lift the hot cup of coffee to her lips when the jackass next to her bumps her arm, sending the hot liquid right down the front of her chest and staining her top. "Ahhh. Son of a bitch. Watch what you are doing jerk. This is hot coffee". The asshole laughs and says. "I'm sorry my queen I didn't see you there". He laughs and so does his dickhead friend. "Hey. Shit head. The lady got hurt. Try saying sorry". Emma stands and yells at the jerk. "Oh and who are you the queens knight in shining overalls?" He laughs at Emma's attire. She doesn't care she going to work. Emma walks over to him. Luckily this idiot is just a little shorter than her. "You hurt the lady now apologize". She says with a hint of anger. But the ass and his buddy laugh again. Emma being tired and the hot head she is punched the guy right in the face knocking him back against his friend and they both fall over. Emma quickly goes over to them and picks up the punk that she punched. When he was on his feet, Emma grabbed his neck tight and pulled him to Regina. "Say I'm sorry asshole". He doesn't say anything at first so with Emma's strong hold on his throat she slaps his face hard and yells. "I said apologize. NOW!!"   With the loser about ready to shit his pants, he looks at Regina and says. "Ma'am. I am so sorry for everything I've done. I hope I didn't hurt you".  "Good now you and your punk bitch friend get the hell out of here and never come back. Do you understand me?"  He nods like a scared kid. Emma lets go of him and he and his friend leave. They run out of the diner and Emma watches them leave. When she turns around the most beautiful brunette woman she has ever seen is looking at her. Emma doesn't know what to say, so she just says. "Hey".  Regina smiles and says. "Thank you. You really didn't have to do that".  "Yes I did. They were jerks. You could have gotten hurt. Oh god, are you hurt?  I know they have burn cream in the first aid kit". Regina likes the concern that this woman she doesn't know has shown to her. Ruby and Granny finally came out to see what was going on. The brunette woman says to Granny. "I'm sorry Eugenia. Someone bumped my arm as I was taking a sip of my coffee and thought it was a joke. This lovely person here helped me and they left. I'm sorry for the trouble. I'll play for any damages". Granny looks around and nothing seems broken, so she tells the woman that all is good. Emma and the woman both take their seats back at the counter. Emma's breakfast had already arrived, but it wasn't that hot now. So she asked Ruby to throw it in the microwave for a minute. Regina's breakfast came out nice and hot. She apologized to Emma again. "I'm sorry you didn't get to have a hot breakfast".  Emma looks at her and smiles. "It's ok. Ruby will take care of everything". The brunette smiled, and started to eat. Emma's hot breakfast showed up and she started to quickly eat. She needs to get to Marco's shop to see where she needed to go and what she needs to do. Emma says. "Hey Ruby. I need to go the restroom, can I get my tab. please?"   "Sure Emma".  Emma walks into the back to relieve herself and clean up before she heads over to the job. When she comes out the brunette is gone. Bummer she thinks to herself. Emma walks up to the counter and doesn't see her tab. "Rubes, where is my tab?"    "Regina took care of it".   "Who is Regina?"   "The woman you just saved". Ruby says with a cocky smile and wink. "Shut it Ruby". Emma says before she leaves to start her work day.
