Chapter 6

The next few weeks were great for the new couple. They did everything together. Regina was even able to throw a little extra work Emma's way. Whenever one of her clients was getting ready to sell their house and they needed work done, she had them give Marco and Emma a call and the were very grateful for the work. One afternoon, it was slow at the shop so Emma decided to surprise Regina at work. She had never done it before so she hoped it would be ok. She stopped off at Granny's to get Regina some lunch, because when she spoke to her, she still hadn't eaten yet and it was almost 2pm. She got her a chicken salad sandwich with a side of fries. Of course she had to stop and get her one beautiful red rose. She walks in to Mills Realtors and over to the front desk. A snooty woman looks up at her. "Yes, May I help you?"   "Hi. I'd like to see Regina Mills please".  "And you would be?"  "Emma Swan". She looks down at her book. "I don't see you on her schedule".  "I just wanted to surprise her with lunch".  "Please take a seat and I will see if she is available". Emma nods and sits on a chair on the other side of the room. "Hello Ms. Mills., A Ms. Swan is here. She's not on your schedule but she would like to see you... Yes ma'am".  She hangs up the phone and says. "Ms. Mills will be out in a moment". Emma smiles and waits for Regina. A few minutes later she comes walking into the lobby area and Emma stands. "Well this is a lovely surprise. What brings you here my love". She says as she kisses Emma while the woman at the front desk looks on with a not so pleasant look on her face. "I wanted to surprise you with lunch. You said you hadn't eaten yet, so here I am".  "Oh Emma. Thank you dear. Come back to my office and sit with me".  "Your probably busy, I don't want to distract you or anything".  "Nonsense. Come on". She grabs Emma's hand and starts walking. She stops at the desk. "Hold all my calls Mal". She says then continues on to her office. They sit on the couch in Reginas office and she opens the bag and takes out the sandwich and fries. "You didn't get anything dear?"  "No. I had something earlier. I just wanted to make sure you had something to eat". Regina leans over and kisses her. "Thank you my love, and who is the rose for?"  "It's only for you babe". Regina smiles as she takes a bite of her sandwich. "So what's with the stuck up chick at the front desk".  Regina laughs. "I'm sorry, she's been like that since I've known her, but she get the job done so". She says with a shrug. "How long has she worked here?"   "Since I opened about 6 years ago, but I've known her a lot longer. We went to high school and then college together. We even dated a little bit in college".  "So you have your ex-girlfriend working for you?"   "Yes. I hope that's not a problem".  "Not unless she decides to make it one".  "Ok. So let's change the subject. How is your day going my love?"  "It's good. It was slow today at the shop so I told Marco I was gonna take off early and bring you lunch". "And I'm glad you did. I've been so busy all day. This is the first time I've gotten to take a break, and a sandwich is exactly what I needed".  "Good I'm glad babe. Do you think you'll be working late tonight?"   "I really hope not. I have an open house coming up tomorrow and I need to make sure everything is ready for it, but  I shouldn't have to be here to late. Did we have plans I forgot about?"  "No. I was just wondering if we could do something together. Maybe go out, but you'll probably be tired. What if I brought some dinner over tonight and we just relax and watch a movie?"  "Oh Emma I love that idea". They sit and talk but only for a few more minutes, because Regina has to get back to work. They walk out to the lobby together and stop by the door. Regina leans in and kisses Emma. "Thank you for lunch sweetheart. I'll see you tonight". "I cant wait. Call me when you get out". Regina nods and they kiss again. Emma leaves and Regina starts to walk back to her office. "So that's what turns you on these days". "Excuse me?"  "Oh nothing. I'm just surprised that you are dating that type of woman now".  "And what type is that Mal?"  Regina says sounding a little pissed off. "Oh you know Regina, she's not really in our social class".  "Jesus Mal. Why do you have a comment about everyone I date?"  "Because Regina. You know I still care for you and this woman couldn't possibly make you happy. Your used to certain things like fancy dinners and expensive gifts. I highly doubt that this girl could afford keeping up with you". "Oh go to hell Mal. You don't know anything about me anymore. We're not even friends. You are just my employee. So keep your nose out of my personal life if you want to keep this job". With that said Regina storms off. About an hour later there is a knock on Reginas office door and she hopes it's not Mal. "Come in". The door opens and in walks a tall blonde. "Hey Kathryn. What's going on?"  "Here is that file you asked for on that bank foreclosure". "Thank you. Kat, do you have plans for tonight?"  "Nope. Why you want to grab a few drinks".  "Maybe something other time. I was really hoping you could make sure everything was set up for that open house tomorrow. I've got such a headache and I'd love to go home".  "Of course Reggie. No problem. What needs to be done?"  Regina hands her a file and they go over it and Kathryn leaves Reginas office. "Oh. Thank god. Now I can go home early. Let's just see what property the bank has in foreclosure that they want me to sell". She opens the file and begins to read it. "A commercial property. Nice, those can be good money". She continues to read. "Oh no. It can't be. Shit". According to the file, the commercial property that the bank has in foreclosure is currently owned by Emma's boss Marco. She wonders if Emma knows anything about this. She feels terrible. She hopes she can come up with a way to help them. She closes the file and cleans up her desk. She gathers her things, shuts the lights off and closes the door. When she walks out to the lobby she stops to speak to Mal. "I'm leaving for the day. If you need anything ask Kathryn". She turns and leaves without another word.
