Chapter 21

After unpacking and putting everything away from there trip, Regina walks over and gives Emma a hug and a kiss. "Thank you my love. I had such a lovely time with you in Vermont. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks".  "Me too babe. Our wedding is going to be so wonderful". Emma says with a kiss. Before they left, they met with the function coordinator from the restaurant. They rented a private room for 12 people on September 25th, which is 7 weeks away. 3 weeks before the wedding they do have to call to work out the final menu, but other than that everything there is set. Now they need to get the invitations made and mailed. Regina phone starts to ring. She gives Emma a kiss. "Sorry my love". "It ok babe go answer your phone". Regina picks it up. "It's my sister. Hello Zelena... We got back a little while ago. ... No not yet, why?.   Hold on....Zelena is meeting Kathryn for lunch, they want to know if we want to join them".  "I don't know babe, I'm kinda tired from driving. Why don't you go and spend some time with your sister and best friend. I'll even let you bring me something home if you want". Emma says with a smile. She has a feeling she knows where they are meeting for lunch, because they always go to Granny's. "Ok Zelena it's just going to be me. Emma says she's tired. I'll be there in a few minutes".  "Emma please come with us".  "Gina you go have fun and I'll see you later". Emma kisses her and says "I love you".  "I love you too sweetheart. Would you like me to bring you back something?"  "Ya maybe, where are you going?"  "You know damn well where were are going Emma that's why you're not going".  "Wow. What's with the attitude Regina?"  "This is ridiculous Emma. Are we never going to be able to go there again. Granny was able to forgive you when you messed up in her restaurant, why can't you forgive Ruby?"  "It's not the same thing Gina". "What ever you say Emma. I'll see you later". Regina grabs her purse and keys and leaves. She walks into Granny's and sees her sister and best friend. She goes over and sits down and let's out a sigh. "What's wrong dear sister, you looked stressed. Didn't this getaway help you to relax?"  "Yes it did. It was wonderful. I'm just upset with Emma. She won't come in here. Her and Ruby had a disagreement and she refuses to see her". Just then Ruby walks over with coffee for Zelena and Kathryn. "Hey Regina. Can I get you something to drink?"  "Hi Ruby, I'll have a tea please".  "Sure thing. Is Emma joining you today?" She asks looking hopeful. "No. I'm sorry, she's not". "Ok. I'll be right back with your tea". She walks away and Regina sighs again. "So how do I get the two of them to at least talk to each other".  "Regina you can't push this, you could make it worse by making Emma do something she's not ready for".  "I agree with Kat, Emma is just as stubborn as you are and if she pushed you into something you weren't ready for you would be so pissed off".  "I know it. I just wish there was something I could do". Ruby comes back with the tea and the ladies order their lunch. They changed the subject to the upcoming wedding. They are all so excited talking about shopping for dresses and of course they have to have a bridal shower quickly since the wedding is only weeks away. There isn't many customers in the diner so Ruby can over hear the conversation and she feels left out and hurt. She knows Emma isn't going to want her at the wedding. She won't even answer her calls. The 3 ladies seem to have finished their lunch so Ruby goes to collect the dishes. "More coffee or tea for you guys?"  They all nod and Ruby walks away. "Oh dear, do you think she heard us talking?" Zelena asks. "Of course she did. It's not like we were quietly talking about it". Says Kat as Ruby comes back. "Ok any one for dessert?"   "I think we're good Ruby, thank you. I'm sure you heard us talk about the wedding". Regina says".  "Yes I'm glad for you both. Congratulations". She starts to walk away. "It's in September. I hope you will be able to make it". Ruby turns around. "Thanks Regina, but you don't have to do that. I know that Emma doesn't want me there, she won't even talk to me. So I would only be ruining the day for you both. I know Granny wouldn't miss though". She gives Regina a weak smile and walks away and tries to hold back the tears so Regina won't see, but Regina already knows. "See this is crazy. They are both upset over this. I have to go talk to Emma".  "Regina is that a good idea? She already told you she wasn't ready". She takes some money out of her purse and puts it on the table. "I know that Zelena, but something needs to be done. I'll see you at work tomorrow Kat and Zelena we'll call you about shopping soon. Love you girls. Bye". She leaves so quickly she doesn't even realize she left her purse in the booth. When Zelena and Kathryn are leaving they notice it and tell Ruby they found it. Maybe Ruby will look for the ID and bring it over to her. Regina drives back to the house and she finds Emma watching the movie "The Breakfast Club".   "Hey babe, how was lunch?"  "It was nice. We talked about the wedding and shopping. You know all the fun stuff".  "Oh bummer. I'm sorry I missed that". Emma says with a little chuckle. "Yes it's to bad that you weren't there because you would have seen how upset Ruby was when she told me she didn't want to ruin our wedding day by being there because she knows that you don't want her there". Regina says with a little sarcasm. "Hmm". Is all Emma goes with. "Really Emma? You can't even say anything besides Hmm?"  "What do you want me to say Regina?  I don't care if she's there. I know your friends so if she doesn't want to go it's on her". Regina stands in frustration. "No Emma it's on you. Can't you see how ridiculous this all is? I know you are both bothered by this. Your angry and hurt. So what's its going to take for you to talk to Ruby to try to work this out?"  "Regina. I love you like I've never loved anyone before in my life. I hope you believe me on that. Right now the only thing I ask is that you let this go please. I may never be ready. Sure it does bother me about this Ruby thing. I've never denied that, but I need you to understand that in my life people who I've thought of as best friends were the first ones to stab me in the back. So maybe that's why I'm not so broken up about Ruby. I don't know, but I do know I'm ok. Right now I have everything I always wanted and never ever thought I could have. I have a beautiful woman who for some reason loves and and wants to marry me and wants to have my baby. I'm really ok. I hope that it's enough for you. It's the truth Regina. I don't know what else to say if it isn't". "Ok Emma. Thank you for explaining all that to me. I'm going up to take a shower?"  "Ok babe. I love you".  "I love you too sweetheart". Regina goes upstairs and starts to get undressed and she hears her phone ring. She sees its Ruby. "Hi Ruby, what can I do for you?"  "Sorry to bother you Regina. You left your purse here at Granny's. Did you want to come pick it up?"  Regina suddenly gets an idea. "Ruby, I'm really so tired, would you mind dropping it off on your way home?"  "Ahh sure Regina I can do that, I was just about to leave anyway. I'll be there in a few minutes". "Thank you so much Ruby. I really do appreciate it. I'll see you soon". The call ends and Regina gets into the shower. She thinks maybe this will at least get Emma and Ruby to start some type of conversation.
