Chapter 5

They sit on the couch together and eat the desserts. Regina bites into a chocolate cannoli. "Hmm. This is so good. Almost as good as the sex we just had in the kitchen". Emma laughs a bit. "Almost as good. Well thank you. It's nice knowing I'm better than a cannoli". Regina blushes a little. "Emma I want you to know I don't usually do stuff like this". "You don't usually eat desserts?" "No. I meant I don't usually have sex with someone I just met". "I understand Regina. I'm not a one night stand person either, but this felt different with you. I feel like I know you. Does that sound strange?" "No. Not at all. I feel the same way". "Good so what do we do about it?" "Let's go with it Emma. Why fight it?" "So you want to start dating?" "Sure". Regina says with a smile. Which makes Emma smile so she leans in and kisses Regina. The rest of the evening they snuggled together, watched movies and ordered a pizza. Before they new it, it was almost 3 in the morning. Emma lets out a big yawn. "Well I suppose I should be heading home". "Emma you should just stay here. It's to late to be out driving". "Are you sure? I don't want to impose". "Yes please Emma I would worry if you didn't". Emma kisses her. "Well since you put it that way. I'd love to". "Good. I have a guest room if you'd like or you could always share my bed". She says with more than a little hope in her eyes. "I'd love to fall asleep next to you tonight Regina. Thank you". They hold hands as they walk upstairs together. Laying next to each other they smiled. A few minutes later Emma says. "So this is a bit awkward isn't it?" Regina sighs. "I'm sorry. Yes". "Ok so let's say what we really want to do". "And what is that dear". "Well, I just want to put my arms around you and hold you all night". Regina's face lit up. "That's ironic because that's exactly what I want. I want to put my head on your shoulder and fall asleep in your arms". Emma lays on her back and opens her arms. "Come here sweetheart". Regina smiles and snuggles into Emma's arms. Emma kisses the top of Reginas head. "Good night babe". "Good night my love". Regina wakes the next morning still being held by Emma. She really likes the feeling and the warmth. She hums and nestles in closer and she fell back to asleep for a little while longer. When she awakes again it's because Emma was slowly trying to get out of bed. "Mmm. Emma is everything ok?" "Yes. I'm sorry baby. I just really need to pee". Regina moves over a little and Emma heads off to the bathroom. When she gets back in bed she pulls Regina back in her arms and they just lay in silence for a little while. "Emma, are you awake?" "Ya. What's up hun?" "It's strange, and a little scary, but I feel so comfortable with you. It's only been 2 days, but this moment right now feels so right. It's hard to explain". "It's ok Gina, I understand. It is scary. Yes it is early in this relationship, but I feel the same way. So let's just go with it. We do what couples do. We go places, she spend time together, we just be us. I'm ready. How about you?" Regina kisses Emma's lips and says. "Yes. Emma. I'm ready". Then she kisses her again. After another few moments of holding each other, Emma needs to ask Regina a serious question. "Regina. Does it bother you that I'm just a so called handyman?" Regina lifts her head off of Emma's shoulder and looks at her. "What? No of course not Emma. What made you ask that?" Regina sits up against the headboard, and Emma does the same. "I'm sorry Regina, but it is obvious that we are from different lifestyles. I wear overalls to work and you wear classy stuff. Could this really work? I want us to work, but there will probably come a time that you will become embarrassed to be seen with me. I'm sorry. I know it's stupid, but it's something we are going to have to deal with sooner or later". "Emma. I don't know what to say". She says as she gets out of bed and walks around the room looking pissed off. "Regina, Wait please. I'm not trying to insult you. It's my insecurities that brought this on. I like you so much, but what happens when you want me to join you at some fancy cocktail party with a more elegant crowd and you introduce me, and some snob says, "oh yes. I remember you. Didn't you fix my toilet?" Regina will you be ok with that?" Regina thinks for a moment, but can't come up with anything to say. "See. This isn't going to be easy. I want to be with you. I want to share my life with you, but not at the cost of you ending up hating me because I'm not good enough". Regina walks around the bed and sits down next to Emma. As she takes her hand in her own she says. "Look Emma. All relationships are hard, but I am willing to try if you are. I don't care what you do for a living because I know how much you love it, I saw it in your eyes the other night. Yes we do come from different places, but that's not a bad thing. Please don't let something like this come in between us. We can take it as slow as we need to". Emma leans in and kisses Regina's lips tenderly. "Ok Regina, your right". Regina gives her a kiss. They end up making love and spending most of the day in bed. They both hold each other tight and are so content with being with one another.
