Chapter 8

Today is Emma's last day working for Marco and even though she hasn't said anything, Regina knows she's heartbroken. They are both awake as they lay in bed this morning. "Can I make you something for breakfast my love?"  "No thanks babe. I just feel like a little coffee today". She smiles at Regina. "Im gonna go and take a shower ok babe?"  She kisses Regina's forehead and gets out of bed. "Emma sweetheart. I know you are upset about today, but you still have to eat".  "I promise I will get something a little later. My stomach is just not feeling itself right now". Regina nods. "Ok. I'll go start the coffee then". Emma smiles then goes in to take her shower. She's all dressed and ready for work when she meets Regina in the kitchen. "The coffee is ready dear". "Thank you". She fixes her coffee and sits next Regina at the kitchen island. "Are you sure you don't want me to make you something for breakfast Emma?"  "No thanks babe I'm fine. Did you eat?"   "I just had a piece of toast. So, what's the plan for today with Marco".  "We just have one delivery for that bed we made, then it's back to the shop to shut it down. Marco gave me most of the tools and some of the woodworking machines. He already sold off the bigger equipment and the unused lumber. So it's just basically saying goodbye". She says as her eyes fill up, Regina takes her hand and says. "It's not really goodbye Emma. You'll still be able to see him. I know this is hard sweetheart and I'm so sorry. You've spent most of your life working with him, but it will get easier. Just be strong my love. I think that's what he needs from you right now".  Emma nods and lets a few tears fall. Regina holds her tight and rubs her back. After a few minutes Emma says. "Thank you babe. I think I should get going now. I don't want to be late". "Ok my love. Call me if you need anything. I don't have a busy day today so I'm available anytime". Emma gives her a kiss and goes to work. When she walked into Marco's shop and she couldn't help the emotions that she was feeling. "Oh Emma dear. No tears. Everything will be ok".  "I know. I'm just going to miss you so much".  "I'm not going anywhere. You can visit me anytime you want". She nods and he gives her a hug. They make their delivery and set up the bed, then they went back to the shop. Emma looks around. "So I guess that just about does it". "So do you have any jobs lined up after this Emma?"  "I've got a few jobs for Regina coming up. That's it so far".  "That's good Emma. I know you'll be just fine".  "Thank you Marco for everything you've taught me over the years. I can't even tell what you've meant to me". She gives him a kiss on the cheek and a big hug. "Marco if you ever need anything. Please call me. I will always be there for you". They give each other one last hug and Emma leaves the shop. She's not quite sure what to do with herself right now, so she gets in her car and goes over to Granny's for some coffee. She walks in and sits at the counter. "Hey Ems. Your in early for lunch. Having the usual?"  "Not yet Ruby. Just some coffee please". As Ruby pours the coffee she can tell something is off with her friend. "So, what's going on Em. You look upset?"  "I'll be ok. This was my last morning working with Marco and I'm a little sad".  "I'm sorry Emma. I didn't know that was today". Emma nods and sips her coffee. About a half hour later, she got a text from Regina asking how she was. She wrote back saying she was doing ok and that she was have some coffee at Granny's. 10 minutes later Regina walked through the door and sat next to Emma at the counter. "Gina. What are you doing here?"  Regina gives her a kiss. "I wanted to be with you my love. I took the rest of the day off". Emma smiles. She's happy Regina is there. She's feeling a little better already. They both ordered something for lunch and while they were eating, in walked the punk that gave Emma and Regina trouble a few months ago. "Well, well, look what we've got here. It's the Queen and and her knight. Still in Overalls I see". Emma stands up face to face with him. "Look pal, I'm not really in the mood to deal with your shit so why don't you just take a hike". Granny walks over, because she can see something was about to start. "Listen here. I want this to stop right now. Emma please sit down and you leave. Your not welcome here". "Fine this place is a shit hole anyway".  "Watch it asshole". Emma says as Regina stands next to her. "Please sit down Emma".  "Better listen to your Queen, I'd hate to have to embarrass you in front of her, well I'm sure she's already embarrassed enough with what your wearing". That's all Emma could take. She punches him with every ounce of force she had in her, and he falls to the floor and she goes down on the floor next to him and hits him again and again. "Emma no". Regina yells out as Emma keeps hitting him. A few of the customers helped lift Emma up to stop her. The punk now laid on the floor with a bloody face. He slowly starts sitting up. "You son of a bitch. Your gonna pay for this". "Bring it on". Just then the Sheriff department arrives, and of course Emma's sheriff father. "What happened here?" Sheriff David Nolan asks. "This bitch is crazy". "Keep it up asshole and I'll show you crazy".   "Emma that's enough. Please calm down". Regina says as she tries to hold Emma's hand. "What's your name". The Sheriff asks the bloodied face man. "Robin Locksley".  "Ok. So what's going on here". Regina answers before anyone else could. "Emma and I were having lunch when he came up behind us and started insulting us. We had a little altercation a few months ago and it seems he still upset about it". "That bitch hit me. I want her arrested". Emma's father looks at her with such disappointment. "Is that true Emma?"  "You bet your ass it is. I was sick of listening to him insult me, Regina and Granny's. Granny asked him to leave and he kept running his mouth so I shut for him".  "It didn't take you long did it Emma".  "What the hell is that supposed to mean dad?"  "That means you stopped working for Marco for what 3 hours now and your already going back to the way you were in high school". This is really starting to make Emma's blood boil. "Are you gonna arrest me or what?"  She asks her father and he looks at Robin. "Mr. Locksley did you want to press charges?"  He looks Emma right in the eyes and smiles. "Damn right I do". Emma's father takes out his handcuffs and starts reading Emma her rights. "David, this isn't right. Emma was only defending us. I asked him to leave and he wouldn't".  "I'm sorry Granny Emma struck him first, he has a right to press charges". Emma angrily laughs. "Of course you would take someone else's side my dear old dad". Emma says, very sarcastically and her father gives her an nasty look. Granny speaks again to the sheriff again. "Can I get a restraining order against this Robin guy to stay out of my restaurant?"  "Yes Granny, Everything will be in Emma's arrest report. We can help you file for a restraining order later. Deputy please take miss Swan to the station and get her booked and processed please". His Deputy nods and grabs Emma's arm.  "I'm sorry Regina". Emma says. ""I'll bail you out as soon as I can sweetheart. I promise. I love you Emma".  "I love you Regina". After that Emma was walked out to the patrol car and brought to the station to be processed.
