Chapter 12

Regina walks into the lobby of her company and Mal sees the tears in her eyes. She stands up right away. "Regina are you ok?"  "I'm fine Mal". Regina says as she quickly walks into the back and into her office. She sits on the couch and just cries into the palms of her hands. Mal comes in and sits right next to her. "Regina are you hurt. Please let me help you". Mal says as she puts her arms around Regina and holds her close. "Is it Emma, has she done something?"  "It's none of your business Mal".  "I know Regina, but your upset and Kathryn isn't here. I care about you. Please let me help  if I can".  "Fine. Emma's upset because her father showed up, when I tried to talk to her about it she got even more upset. She yelled at me and just walked away".  "I'm sorry Regina. Why are you even with her? She has nothing to offer you, it's obvious from what you said she treats you like shit". Mal leans in and gives Regina a kiss. "Mal, what the hell?"  "Oh come on Regina, you know I still want you. I never treated you like this Emma bitch".  "No Mal, all you ever did was cheat on me. We dated for 6 months and you slept with 4 different people, at least 4 that I know about". Mal laughs. "You really think Emma is so true to you. I know for a fact that she fucked Ruby Lucas in the backroom Of Granny's one night".  "No. Emma would never cheat on me Mal. I know her". "Then ask her Regina. Look. I still love you and I care so much for you. Please give us another chance". Mal leans in to kiss Regina again and as Regina is in the process of pushing Mal away, Emma walks in and sees her girlfriend kissing someone else. "What the fuck Gina?"  Regina is startled and she push's Mal away. "Emma, I swear this is not what it looks like". She says as she stands. Emma walks in the office and hands the carnations to Regina. "I came to apologize to you, but I guess I'm too late". She looks at Mal and turns to leave. "No my love, please don't go. This was all Mal I swear. I was pushing her away before you walked in. I don't want her. All she ever did was cheat on me. I would never want her again. Sweetheart please believe me". Emma nods and says. "I'm going home Gina". And she walks away. Regina turns to Mal. She walks over and slaps her across the face. "Your fired Mal. Clean out your shit and get the hell out of my office". Regina grabs her purse and runs out to her car. She wants to get home and talk to Emma. When she gets there she sees Emma's car in the driveway and she's happy. She runs inside and looks in all the rooms on the main floor. Emma is no where to be found. She looks in the basement where Emma's workspace is and she's not there, so she runs up to their bedroom. She walks in and sees Emma packing a bag. "No Emma. Please stop. Please don't leave me. I swear I don't want Mal. I fired her and came right home. Sweetheart please let's talk this out". Emma stops packing and sits on the bed. "What the fuck is happening right now Regina?  I feel like my whole world is falling apart. I upset you earlier and I tried to make it right, but I walk in and see you kissing Mal, of all fucking people". Regina sits next to Emma. "My love I swear it's not what it looked like. She saw I was upset, she tried to console me. She wanted us to get back together and she kissed me. I pushed her away and said I could never trust her. All she ever did was cheat on me. She tried to tell me that you slept with Ruby, then she kissed me again and I was pushing her away when you walked in. I swear Emma. That's the truth".  "I believe you Regina. I'm just so confused right now". Regina wraps her arms around Emma. "Please tell me we can work though this. I love you Emma. I know your upset about Mal and your father coming here and I know you only raised your voice out of frustration, but please Emma. We can work this out right?"  "Regina. You need to know I did have sex with Ruby". Regina stands up and walks away from Emma. "What?"  Regina is so shocked to hear this. "But it was so many years ago. Long before we ever met. Ruby and I were in high school. We were each other's firsts. It wasn't a love thing. We never dated or anything. We were just best friends, and we both felt comfortable with each other and we wanted to share that experience. Like I said it wasn't about love, It was about friends learning with each other. That's all it was. We were both 18 and we just did it. We used protection, I tried not to hurt her, but unfortunately it was gonna happen anyway. That's it. It lasted like 10 minutes and we've never tried it again". "Emma, did it happen in the back room of Granny's?"  "What?" Emma laughs. "No way. Granny would have killed us. It was up in Ruby's bedroom on Granny's bingo night. Why did you ask that?"  "Mal told me that you had sex with Ruby in the backroom at Granny's".  "Well If Ruby did it wasn't with me. We were only together that one time". Regina sits back down next to Emma. "Today has just been the worst. So what do we do now Emma?"  "Are you still upset with me Gina?"  "No Emma. Not at all. Are you angry with me about Mal?"   "No. I believe you baby. So maybe we can be ok".  "Oh Emma. I hope so". She kisses Emma and then they hold each other tight. "Gina can we lay down for a little while? I'm just so drained". "Yes. I would love that Emma". They both get up and strip down to nothing. Right now it's not about sex. They just need to hold each other and rest. So that's what they do. They hold each other tight and eventually fall asleep.
