Chapter 22

As Emma continues to watch her movie she hears the door bell ring. She pauses the movie and goes to the door. She looks through the peephole. "Damn it Regina, what did you do?" She whispers. She opens the door. "Hey Ruby, can I help ya?"  Ruby seems shocked to see Emma. "Ahh. Yes. Sorry to bother you. Regina left her purse at the diner and I brought it over". She passes the purse to Emma. "Oh. Thanks".  "So congratulations, Regina says you guys are getting married in a few weeks. I'm very happy for you both".  "Thanks. Will you and Granny be able to make it? I know it would mean a lot to Regina".  "I know Granny wouldn't miss it, I'll probably have to stay here and run the diner while she's gone". Emma nods and says. "Yeah I guess someone would have to stay behind".  "Ok Ems. I just came to drop that off. Congratulations again. See ya around". As Ruby starts walking away Emma stops her. "Ruby wait". She turns around. "Look. Yes I'm still upset about last week, and it's probably gonna take me a while to get over it, but I want you to know I don't hate you. It's definitely gonna take me time to think of us as close again, but if you can make it, Regina and I would both like you to come to the wedding".  "Emma. Thank you, but you don't have to. I don't want to ruin you day". "You won't Ruby. Try to make it if you please". "Ok. Thanks Ems. It was nice to see you". Emma nods with a small smile and Ruby walks away. Emma walks back in the house. She can still hear the shower running upstairs. She goes up to their bedroom and sits on the corner of the bed facing the bathroom door. After a few minutes Regina came out wearing her bathrobe. She looked at Emma holding up her purse. "Sweetheart what are you doing with my purse?"  "You left it at Granny's and Ruby brought it over. Did you do that on purpose Regina?"  Emma asked as she stands up. "Emma no, I promise you I did not leave it there on purpose".  "It was Ruby that dropped it off".  "Oh". Regina says as she takes her purse from Emma. "Ya, oh. It got us to talk a bit" "did it?"  "Yup. I told her it was ok to come to the wedding and that I don't hate her, that it may take me a while for us to be so called friends again. She looked ok with that".  "That's wonderful sweetheart. I'm glad you could talk". "Ya babe it was nice to get it out. Is that why you left your purse there?"  "Emma my love, I swear to you I didn't leave it there on purpose. Ok yes I was just about to get in the shower when she called and I asked her to bring it but that's it. None of this was planned". Emma gives her a kiss. "Ok. I believe you babe. So what are we gonna do for the rest of the day?"  "How about nothing. We both have to go back to work tomorrow, so let's just rest up tonight". "Ok. Sounds good to me".  The next few weeks pretty much flew right by. Regina and her sister Zelena, along with her best friend Kathryn went shopping to find something to wear to the wedding. Regina found a beautiful vintage wedding dress from the early 1900s that she absolutely loved, and will go so well with the atmosphere of The Ye Olde Tavern, for their reception. Emma also did some shopping. Not being the dress kinda girl, she needed to find something to wear to her wedding. She googled everything she could think of. She went to a few formal clothing shops and couldn't find anything. After 2 weeks straight of looking, Emma was becoming down in the dumps about the whole thing. She tried not to let Regina see how upset she was getting over something as simple as trying to find wedding clothes, but of course Regina knows when something is bothering Emma. So she decided to ask her what was going on while they were having dinner. "Emma dear, is everything ok?"  "Ya. This is delicious babe. Everything you cook is always good". She says with a smile. "I wasn't talking about the food. It seems like something is bothering you, so I'd like to help if I could".  "It's nothing bad, I just can't find anything to wear to our wedding and it's starting to drive me a little crazy".  "What are you looking for my love?"  "Well I already told you I'm not wearing a dress, so I keep looking for something nice, but I can only find those dress pants with the huge legs and I hate those. I just know I'm not going to be able to find anything and I'll end up embarrassing you, then you'll probably end up hating me and breaking up with me all because of some stupid fucking clothes that I couldn't find". Emma says a little louder than she meant to. "Sweetheart please calm down. I don't care what you wear. It's our wedding, you have the right to wear whatever you want. So, do you have any idea what you would like to wear?"  Emma shrugs. "I guess I'd just like some simple black dress pants". "Have you thought about a tuxedo? They do make them for women my love". "The only ones I could find are the ones with the huge legs and I hated them".  "In the next town over there is a bridal shop, they sell everything, what if we stop by there tomorrow and have someone help us out?"  "Yeah, I guess that would be ok". Regina leans over and gives Emma a kiss. "Don't worry darling, we will find you something that you'll like". "Thanks babe". Regina smiles and they are able to finish their dinner. They next day they went to the shop and Emma found just what she was looking for. She was fitted and the tux was ordered. Emma was so happy she actually cried when she got home, she tried to hide that from Regina, but of course Regina knows, she always knows. She walks over and wraps her arms around Emma's neck and gives her a kiss. "What's with the tears my love?"  "Well first, thank you for helping me with finding something to wear and second, I'm happy Regina. I'm so fucking happy. Finding clothes to wear when we get married means that this is really happening. I'm so in love with a woman who will become my wife, and she's having my child". More tears fall from Emma's eyes. "You must really love me Regina, because no one else has ever given me the love and the chances you have". Now Regina has tears falling from her eyes. "Thank you Regina. Thank you for loving me, thank you for treating me like a person that I hope I am in your eyes. I promise you I will always try to be that person for you and our children. I love you Regina". She ends this heart felt confession with a kiss. "Oh Emma. I do love you so much. I've never felt this kind of love before. I can't wait to see how our lives turn out, but I will cherish every moment my love". They kiss again. Regina breaks the kiss with a little giggle and Emma looks at her. "I'm sorry sweetheart. I laughed because it seems we just recited our vows to each other. I guess we'll have to go with the traditional wedding vows". "That's fine with me babe. I just can't wait to get married to you". The start to kiss again which eventually turns into them making love.
