I finish my drink as Gale comes back from dancing with two chicks. He was out of breath. I giggle. "I need a break." He said. I shake my head.
"I'm glad you're having fun," I said. He smiles.
"Do you wanna dance with me?" He asked.
"What about your break?" I asked. He breathes heavily.
"I'm good." He said.
"You need to take a break. I'll take you up on that dance once you stop breathing like a dog." I said. He chuckles.
"I don't get it. 6 guys had already asked you to dance and you turn them down. Why?" He asked.
"Because I watched them dance and they are terrible," I said. I looked around to a group of people who had just arrived. They walk up to a table that has been empty the entire night. I made eye contact with one of them but he blinks it off and goes back to what he was saying.
I look down for a second and then back at them. He stares at me again but this time his buddy turns around and looks at me too. His buddy smiles and stands up. I looked down at my empty cup. I wait a second until he gets in front of the table.
I looked down at what he was wearing. A black t-shirt and joggers. I looked back up at his face to see him smiling. He had brown hair and green eyes. He looked like a god. I swallowed a thump in my throat.
"Hello." He said in a husky voice that gave me chills.
"Hi," I said.
"My name is Rico." He said.
"Hi, Rico," I said.
"Her name is Aria," Gale said. I stomped on his toes. "Ouch!" He stares at me. "I'm gonna go dance." He said.
"He your boyfriend?" He asked.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because it would be wrong to ask a girl to dance if she had a boyfriend." He said. Smooth.
"Oh yeah? And tell me something, Rico. Can you dance?" I asked. He smirks.
"How about I show you?" He asked holding out his hand. I took it and walked with him to the dance floor. "Judging by the fact that I actually got you out here says he's not your boyfriend?" He said. I giggle.
"Gale is my best friend nothing more," I said. He smiles. He lowers his head to my ear.
"Good because he would get mad about this." He said. Before I could say something he pulled me to him. His chest touching my back. My body pressed close to his. I gasped. He moved his hips to the music and I followed along.
After a second I pressed closer to his body and his hands moved to my waist. The music surrounded my senses as well as his colon. I got lost in the dance as he pulled me even closer. "Are you new around here?" He asked into my ear. I giggle.
"What gave that away?" I asked.
"I know everybody." He said.
"You could probably have forgotten me," I said.
"I never forget a face. I definitely wouldn't forget yours." He said.
"How so?" I asked.
"Because you're gorgeous." He said as the song ends. I turn to him.
"You know you're the first person I danced with tonight?" I said. He smirks.
"Why's that?" He asked.
"Because most guys here are a really bad dancer and most of them just want to get in my pants," I said.
"What makes you think I'm not trying to?" He asked.
"Are you?" I asked.
"What if I was?" He asked.
"What if I let you?" I asked. He chuckles.
"I wouldn't do it." He said.
"And why is that?" I asked.
"Because I have respect towards women." He said. I smile.
"Good answer," I said.
"Does that earn me your number?" He asked.
"Nope," I said. He fake frowned. "But I'll tell you what, I might be here next week Friday," I said.
"And if I show up and you are here I'll ask you to dance." He said.
"I might say yes," I said.
"That's a lot of might's." He said. I nod.
"I gotta go," I said. He walks me to the table and heads back to his. I couldn't help but smile.
"Who's the hottie?" Violet asked.
"His name is Rico," Gale said. I looked at him. "Stay away from him. He's bad news." He said.
"What do you mean?" I asked. He nods to their table.
"You see the guy with the black spiked hair?" He asked. I nod. "His name is Miguel Garcia. Roomer has it that he works for a really bad gang. Or the drug cartel. Either way that group never go anywhere without each other." He said. I roll my eyes.
"You're overdramatic," I said. Violet giggles.
"Gale is just jealous you didn't dance with him." She said. I shake my head.
"Not true," Gale said. I sigh and look at the time.
"It's already almost 3?" I asked. They both look at me.
"What's wrong?" Violet asked.
"I have a class in 4 hours," I said standing up. She giggles.
"I'm happy I don't start until next week." She said. I shake my head.
"Well I didn't want to miss any more of the teaching then I already did," I said. She gets off her seat and puts her jacket on.
"It's Wednesday." She said I shrug. "You worry too much." She said. I nod.
"Probably," I said. I glance over at Rico but he was gone. But Miguel looks at me. I could tell he was checking me out. I sighed. "Can we come back to this club next week Friday?" I asked turning towards Gale.
"Hoping to see your new guy friend?" He asked.
"Hoping to have fun while being in California," I said. He rolls his eyes and hugs me.
"Sure we can come back." He said. I giggle and walk up to the bar. The bartender smiles.
"I'm hoping to get a call from you." He said with a wink.
"You might," I said. He chuckles as I walk away.
"You danced with a cute guy and got the bartender's number?" Violet asked.
"That's not all," I said.
"Hmmm?"
"The bartender paid for my drink," I said. She gasps.
"I knew you were good but I didn't think that good." She said as we wait for the car. Gale turns to us.
"You two are smoking hot. You can get any guy you want." He said.
"Now I remember why we hang out with him," Violet said. He points at her.
"I heard that." She giggles. She takes off running which is surprising considering she's wearing 3inch heels. Gale chases after her. I giggle as the guy hands me the car keys.
