We walked along the beach where I sit every day. I walked side by side with him but with a little distance between us. I started at the ground as I felt the cool breeze on my skin.
"Tell me something about," Miguel said after a while.
"I like puppies," I said. He chuckled.
"Why are you so closed up?" He asked. I kept quiet. "Let's pay 20 questions." He said.
"Ok, but I have a right not to answer certain ones," I said looking at him. He nodded.
"Fair enough." He said.
"How are you so calm when you are literally the most dangerous guy in the world?" I asked.
"I think that was a compliment." He said. I giggled.
"Are you gonna answer?" I asked.
"I don't know. I guess it's just the kind of person I am. I learned at a very young age how to be an adult." He said. I sighed.
"My feet hurt," I said. He chuckled.
"Come on let's sit." He said. He sat down on the sand and I sat next to him giving him some space. "My turn. Do you like Rico?" He asked. I kept quiet. "Are you not gonna answer?" He asked.
"Nope," I said.
"Fine, I get to ask you a different question. He said.
"Ok," I said.
"How do you feel being around me knowing that I kill people?" He asked.
"Scared but safe. I know you kill people because I saw it first hand but what I saw was self-defense. I mean maybe you knew he was gonna end up dead before meeting with him but he attacked you." I said. I stared into his brown eyes. I cleared my throat. "My turn. Do you really enjoy killing people?" I asked.
"No. I said that to scare you. I don't kill people unless I have too." He said. I looked down at my hands. "You talk about your dad but you even mention your mom. Why?" He asked. My heart pounded.
"Pass," I said softly.
"Touchy subject?" He asked.
"You have no idea," I said playing with the sand.
"Ok. But can you answer this question?" He asked. I looked at him. "Do you have feelings for Rico?" He asked.
"You asked that twice," I said.
"Do you?" He asked.
"Why do you care?" I asked.
"Because I do." He said.
"That wasn't an answer," I said.
"And you didn't give me one." He argued.
"Rico and I are just friends. Sure he's cute and is kind but he's not what my heart desires." I said. He looks down.
"You think he's cute?" He asked looking back up at me. I smile.
"Mr. Garcia your jealousy is showing," I said. He chuckles.
"Ok, maybe I'm a little jealous." He said. I giggle.
"Why were you following me?" I asked.
"A first it was too see if you were keeping your word but I saw something in you. I knew it was better to keep you close than to keep you at a distance." He said.
"Oh yeah? And how close?" I asked. He smirks.
"Well, I was thinking you and me inside my bed." He said. I slapped his arm.
