The next morning it was rainy. I heard soft pitter patter every so often interupted by a clap of thunder. Sally was behind me, still asleep. The clock read 12:30 in the afternoon. As I turn to wake her, I find a giant rainbow bedhead facing me. Makeup smeared nearly to his chin, he snored happily beside me. I jumped up beside the bed.
"Dahvie!! WHAT"RE YOU DOING IN MY BED?!"
He pulled a pillow over his head and mumbled into the pillows stuffing. I rolled my eyes, and Jayy walked in, surprisingly already dressed and applying eyeliner. He saw the scene and started laughing hysterically, his eyeliner dropped from his fist, rolling across the floor.
"IT'S NOT FUNNY!"
I shrieked. Then I remembered. What was I wearing? A A7X T-shirt... with no pants... I stripped them because I got hot... Shit. Gripping the covers and taking them from Dahvie, I held them against my body.
"GET OUT!! I'm practically naked!!"
"Ohh lettme at her!"
Dahvie hopped from the coverless bed and leaped at me, but was quickly intercepted by Jayy, who told me to get dressed, that we were seeing the town today, dragging Dahvie out by the hem of his shirt, while he fought back like a toddler.
"But, I can't!"
He was already gone. I dropped the cover and slipped on a pair of skinnys on the ground, and threw a Pikachu shirt over. I realized my gloves weren't here. I remembered taking them off to sleep with Cheshire, skin against skin, and I set them on my side table- they weren't there. Under the bed, in the dresser, through the bedsheets, in the closet, in my sweatpants, they weren't in any of those places. I started to get a little frantic. Everyone's going to see... And laugh at me... The pathetic girl who can't hold in her feelings... I sunk against the wall, and Cheshire, who was asleep on my fuzzy rug throughout the entire scene, he must've moved when Dahvie came in last night.
I stroked his head and wondered if he was in pain. He purred as I stroked the length of his lithe body, and I guessed not yet. That shot must still be in affect, though I didn't know how. Maybe I should take those. I put him in my arms, using his bushy tail to cover a few scars. I trudged down the stairs. Poor Cheshire, I could start to see a few blood spots seeping through his bandages.
"Dahvie, do you know where my gloves are?"
Thats when I saw them. They were stuck in the highest rafter in the stupid room. I definitley couldn't reach that. The cieling was almost 10 feet high.
"DAHVIE! GET MY GLOVES DOWN NOW!"
He walked in saying stuff about how he didn't do it. He said Jayy did it.
"JAYY GET MY GLOVES DOWN NOW!!"
He came down next, and simply said, no.
"What do you mean no? I need those! Get them down."
He just said no again. His eyes were deadset in mine, and I knew he wasn't going to. I didn't know why, but I needed to get Cheshire help.
"Jayy, I can't go around town, I need you to take me to the vet. Please?"
He seemed to just notice the cat in my arms, and blinked in surprise. Dahvie being Dahvie, he freaks out, occasionally holding his temple due to slight hangover. Jayy, rolled his eyes, grabbed his keys and motioned towards the door. I carefully seated myself in the SUV, trying not to jostle Cheshire, and Jayy got in, and we were off. We didn't say a word on the drive there, even though I had prepared myself for a thousand questions. I wasn't completly sure what was going on, but I knew answers would come with time. Cheshire was my number one priority right now.
Why would someone do this to him? I mean, I've never made anyone angry, I didn't have any friends, nor any enemys capable of this. The ones I had made wouldn't even fight me, there was no way it was them. Who then? Who did this, and why? There had to be motive.
"We're here."
Jayy said, interupting my thoughts. I nodded briskly and slid out of the tall SUV, making my way towards the door quickly. Jayy pulled open the sliding glass door for me, and I headed for the front desk, where a rather bored looking secretary sat, typing un enthusiastically.
"My name is Cass, how may I assist you?"
She asked without looking up from her computer screen. For some reason that really pissed me off. Swallowing my feeling like a pill, I tried to speak but couldn't. My throat ached, and tensed up to where I thought breathing would be very difficult and uncomfortable. Jayy scratched my back, telling me to chill for a minute.
"My cat here, well, he needs to see a vet, right now, he might be hurt really bad."
The woman still wasn't glancing up, as if this was something you could simply blow off. "You'll have to wait, un sceduled appointments are very hard to arrange, just sit there for maybe an hour then we should be able to see someone."
My head dipped, but snapped back up at the sound of crashing. Jayy's fist was on top of the counter, and his face. Well, wow. the secretary's head snapped up, fear in her beady eyes. Recognition struck her features, as did a smile.
"You're Jayy Monroe. You're in that band."
Band? What is she talking about? They must have one of those small town bands. Whatever, he got her attention that's all I care about.
"Yeah. So, who can we see. Right now."
She began to furiously type and click on her computer, turning back to say, "Dr.Willow. He only has a half hour though. Right down the hall, take a left at the fourth door."
Jayy seemed like he was satisfied, and told the woman thanks as he led me by the elbow towards the office. I was still stuck on the 'band' thing. Shaking my head furiously, I thought only of my Cheshire. Jayy waltzed in the door, not even knocking. It seems the doctor was in his lunch break, and I felt somewhat bad, but not bad enough to leave.
"May I help you?"
He completly abandoned his lunch, taking to his job right away. I was impressed. I wouldn't have given up lunch for strangers. He didn't even seem phased by Jayys appearance which was unusual, because I get wierd stares, and I don't take it as far as Jayy..
"Our cat, somethings-"
Jayy cut off, then I realized he had no idea what had happened. I quickly filled them both in on what happened, and while Jayy was neutral, the doctor seemed horrified. Finishing, he took my cat back into another room.
"This will only take half an hour at most. I'm going to make sure he's not infected, give him something for phantom pain, but other than that, he'll adapt. Cats are highly adaptable to these types of circumstances, so he won't need any therapy or anything."
He disappeared behind the curtain.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Jayy's POV~*~*~*~*~
Damn it. Whatever was going on, they knew we are keeping Dice. They knew he was her cat. How though? Was it that fan again? Why did we recieve a dead cat, and her's with eyes missing? They must have knwon she was home, or they wouldn't have done it. Do we have a threatening stalker?
