"What would you do if I ran away and never came back?" she asks me. I turn my head to the left and look down at her blank looking expression as she stares at the ceiling of my room.
"I would find you," I say to her softly.
"What if you didn't?" she questions. I wrap my arm around her and pull her closer to me, smelling the scent of vanilla come off of her.
"I would look for a thousand years," I whisper. She smiles up at me and I look down at her blue eyes that twinkle in the moonlight that shines through my window.
"Why does everything fall apart?" she asks, her voice cracking a bit. I close my eyes and lay my head down over hers, laying back on the pillow. She snuggles her neck into my neck and lets out a small sigh.
"Don't worry. I'll always be here to fix it for you," I assure her. I'll be there to fix her with love. I always will be.
"How Liam?"
"Because you are important to me, Vanessa. I will always protect you. Always," I say. Her birthday is tomorrow. I feel terrible.
She lost her parents and now she's going to die. She asked me the same question years ago. I guess she was looking for a different answer. That answer could never change, though.
I will always love her. No matter what happens. I know that if she dies, I will die to. On the inside at least.
Nothing could ever hurt me more than being in love with someone I can't have. I can never have. Not anymore. I lost her, and I thought I got her back, and then I lost her again.
I can't win anymore.
"Liam. Of all the friends I've ever met, you're the one I won't forget. And if I die before you do, I'll go to heaven and wait for you," she says, smiling through the tears.
"Do you know how hard this is for me?" I ask her. It's hard now but what will happen after she's dead? I wont be able to breathe.
"I'm suffocating you, Liam. I can tell. I don't want to be here. I don't want to watch you get hurt and I don't want to be the cause or it," she explains.
"When your at those pearly gates, ask if you can bring a friend," I say to her. She looks up at me and I open my eyes at hers; filled with tears.
"Liam. Your going to get older and your going to fall in love and get married and have kids and you and the boys will always have the band. You will never ever leave the band. You will never break up. Okay? Do that for me? Liam promise me," she says.
"I promise," I say. She looks at me sadly and wipes the tears off of my cheeks.
"Don't cry, Liam. You know I will be here. I will always be looking after you. I will never forget you Liam," she says, tears coming to her eyes.
"I will never forget you, either. I know you want me to but you don't know how much you mean to me! I don't know what to do anymore! Am I just supposed to walk around like everything is okay? Like none of this ever happened? Like what we have we never had? I ca.. I can..'t," I yell, my voice fading out as sobs escape my lips and tears rush down my cheeks.
